This old preacher's words were enough to straighten out the hearts on which they fell. Yes, words dense with sarcasm, but too holy to provoke laughter, especially in such an atmosphere. But people laughed. What do you expect when our ears have been waxed with too many comedians coming to the altar to make people laugh? What this old preacher's words did to me was make my heart cry. Why did people laugh? Our mouths have been trained to laugh when they should pray, our hearts trained to be merry when they should weep. God help us 😢

I truly and completely understood the Nigerian church when I moved from a non denominational university based chapelaincy (Uniport; basically rotating around Anglican, Presbyterian, Methodist chaplains and invited Protestant charismatic preachers) to Serve in Kebbi State under the NCCF that I was confronted with a different stream, was in meetings with Arome and Selman and understood the roots of the CAC. However, my church background started from a Christian cult church SKCC, a break away sect from OOO all based in Akaw ibom. The church of Nigeria will be repaired and the universal church too. In Jesus Name. Amen🙏🏽

They did not understand because of their shallow or darkness of understanding, I say that with all due respects to them. I was shocked when one day I read Ephesians 4:17 where Apostle Paul spoke about Believers walking in the futility of their minds like the Gentiles, (people who have no covenant with God and are not partakers of the commonwealthof Israel) having their understanding darkened because they are separated, alienated from the life of God because of the blindness of their hearts.

The Spirit is not restricted to moving when men cry. He also moves when men laugh. They laugh because they can relate to it. The Liberty of the spirit in God's presence, will make for the laughter and use the laughter to birth convictions towards repentance in some. That's how it works.
