Built by the late Paddy Murphy and ran at the Diamond Valley Railway for many years. Was lucky to drive it as a teenager before it left DVR for its new South Aussie home, great to see it in this video.

Yes, Andrew gave me those details too! That Paddy Murphy had built it and was resident at the DVR prior to being purchased by Kym about 12 years ago now. Indeed! A powerful engine and one that can pull a load or two if the need arises. The real 1 to 1 scale version of this loco used to pull big loaded grain trains in its previous life. R700 is actually preserved at SteamRail’s Newport Workshops in Victoria.

wow very nice loco i wonder how much something like that would cost i would love to own a 1 to 1 scale loco but that is nothing but a pipe dream BUT something in this scale now that could be doable

I would have no idea, Sammy. Sorry. The current owner bought it about 12 years ago and it was built by Paddy Murphy a member of the Diamond Valley Railway in Eltham, Melbourne, Victoria in the 1980s. It's called Roseworthy home for the last decade. Certainly a powerful engine by far just like its 1 to 1 scale counterpart. I am with you on owning a 1 to 1 scale locomotive haha. That's every railway enthusiast's dream by a long shot. I know of a bloke here in SA that's building a 1 to 1 scale steam locomotive in his garage and it will later become an operational locomotive on the Pichi Richi Railway when completed. So, regardless of size or scale, anything is possible. Maybe not as large as 4-6-4 in 1 to 1 scale but something like this is very doable. The 1 to 1 scale new build loco here in SA has been a 20-plus year project and is a recreation of a long-extinct locomotive class of the South Australian Railways. It's a Z Class 4-4-0, the only purpose-built express passenger locomotive on the SAR narrow gauge. Those were all scrapped by the late 1950s, never to be seen again until one man, Mr Glenn Smythe sought to bring back a long-extinct 4-4-0. @@CalebsRailFilms yeah i first heard about that guy building the Z Class loco about 13-15 years ago it's unbelievable I wish I had the know how the skills n the $$ to do that my dream loco would be the streamlined VR S Class BTW I have been to the DV railway a few times
