yes back in the late 1970's it was 'a remainder canal ' even then the bwb only ever did min; repairs to it and now the 'new lot' do even less exept when any damage is done by a boat, in the last ten years some edging [ and dreging] was done with two minor bridge repairs, oh and they made the top end winding hole bigger.

It would be a lot busier, and possibly better maintained if it wasn't a dead end canal.

I hope they are able to adequately maintain the canals with the budget cutbacks I have heard people mention on other vlogs. Who knows, maybe someday I'll have the opportunity pack up and move across the pond to try my hand at continuously cruising...lol. Thanks for sharing. Take care.

Unfortunately the state of the canals is spiralling downwards these days. Some will be closed before too long I fear.

Very pleasant,peaceful cruise.I enjoyed the musical accompaniment.Has the Ashby always been that shallow? I know there were specifications for the canals when they were built.

Thank you. It's been shallow as long as I can remember but it's getting worse every year unfortunately. In the olden days it would have been deeper because the coal boats would have been very heavily laden, so sat well down in the water.

I only see them at feeding time when the weather's good. In the winter they don't go out nearly as much.

The only ones that dont seem to have problems are the Ducks they will navigate anywhere including a flooded piece of Park Land with their Shallow Draft.🦆🧐
