Lt Jones, being a West Point grad, would be about 23. Few of the Easy co members would have been any older than that. Also, he had been training for war for the last 5 years albeit not solely.

Webster got a bad rap in this. He apparently wasn’t a go-getter, but he also wasn’t a slouch. Apparently Webb was more wounded than depicted too. Cobb actually had some of the most combat experience having served in Africa before joining the 101st. If you look he was being driven out at the end in an MP keep. He was arrested in Haganaeu for striking Lt Foley while drunk. Winters and Nixon were Captains, Winters got promoted to Major, which is why Nix saluted him congratulatory the way he did.

Winters' decision to disobey orders really shows something about WW2 that doesn't exist anymore: Most soldiers were just normal people who wanted to get it over with and go back to regular life, not professional military. The "citizen soldier" distrusted and, at times, bitterly hated the professional officer corps, who tended to be made up of multi-generation rich guys who sometimes used up lives just to look good to superiors. "Inspirational history" like this tends to gloss over that, so it's a high credit that BoB shows it.
