I read this book the week it came out in October 2012 which was the same week my ex took his life. This book saved my life and helped me heal through that awful tragedy. I enjoyed watching this interview after all this time. Thank you Dr. Eben Alexander 💓🙏💓 Also I love this channel 🙌

Yes. Unless he truly experienced this, he could not have claimed the story is real. God changes person with His power to speak out regardless of worrying about own reputation or gain. It's so profound that gives special power to give glory to God. God chooses anyone which seem necessary to Him. But, I think God does not pick those who is arrogant and full of pride.

I shared a death experience with my Mom's sister, who was also my Godmother. She was a very Spiritual person with a bent to the Mystical. My mom had predeceased her, and she was in my care. She took care of her mom years before and told me she had seen her standing in her bedroom doorway looking at her.what I saw was just beautiful. I was holding her hand, rushed in as the doctor told her to hang on, that I was now there. She was in a coma, and she was going home. I grabbed her hand and told her I was there. She let me see what she was going through . The light, the swirling colors was magnificent. I was so startled by all of this I gasped and dropped her hand. The link from her end was dropped and I saw my reality. Although my heart carried what I saw. It was amazing. I've had the privilege of attending the passing of many but I never saw that again. My Aunt was very interested in my Spiritual training, and I feel that this was the Holiest thing she could share with me. To take me to see the Almighty.

I believe you. I saw my husband less than 24 hours after he passed away. It was the biggest shock of my life, and I will never get over how happy he was ... and young. I didn't know him in his 20s, and he was even more handsome then. It was a split second and he disappeared. It made me happy to see him so overjoyed and smiling. I hope he comes for me when it's my time. I could never be scared to "die" now after seeing him.

How can I generally experience bliss (most of the time) here on earth? I have so many things that I love doing. Yet I feel so sad all the time and haven’t the energy to move and do these things. I feel so disconnected from home, so depressed being away from home. I’ve been given such talent and gifts to be shared with others. I pray day and night for the return to joy. Yet all I feel is the sadness, the distance from home, lonely and missing that place since my NDE. It’s crippling. Please help me to break through this dumpy slump. ❤

My beautiful daughter died suddenly due to an embolism. She was very spiritual and certain of a world Dr Alexander describes. She used to keep a little homemade card that said ` Wherever I am in the universe I am safe'. Dr Eben's work gives me some peace as I struggled with complicated grief with her transition.

Part 1. During August of 1973, I was pronounced DEAD On Arrival, at a Medical centre, and at least half an hour passed by, and then my heart started to beat again, without medical assistance... During the time I was reported to be dead, I, that is "LIFE My Real Self", felt very much alive, but not in this universe, nor did I have a human body or any other type of body. I felt NO Condemnation or judgement, but only a depth of LOVE far beyond human understanding... I saw No relatives, family or friends, and no Form, except for the Presence of pure white LIGHT.

... and you weren't startled or scared for the absence of such persons or anything familiar, @John B? I'm just wondering as I have had something like a distressing NDE at age 4, which had similar content, except no white light, just ... nothingness. It felt very distressing, hence I wonder why this experience seemed so soothing to you. (other than that: I believe you)

I had an ultra real OUT Of Body experience. It was not a dream. Then and there I realized that over there is reality, more real than you can imagine, and this here is dumbed down. I was in shock actually and had no one to explain this to that would believe me nor understand. I wish I could have this experience again. I am so far away than where I was with all this stuff, many years ago I sat firmly in the other world now with all this stress with work, or lack of, or my art career or possibly losing my apartment, it's all gone away. Yes! I was in living Japan. I liked a certain Shrine that I liked. My mother was was in the UK. At that time, I liked the feeling of a particular shrine in Asakusa. On my way back to my office I suddenly saw a “vision of my mother” as I walked back to my office. That sounds corny, but I was seriously dumbfounded. When I went back to my flat, I telephoned my children and they said that my mother had come out of her coma. My daughters went to see her grandmother and her first words were “Where was my son.” Two weeks later, she passed away…

Eben... I grew up with a spiritual church. I recall around the late 70’s that a psychic told me that I shall travel extensively around the world. She also said that I would continue to do Judo. Well, that was not quite right, but I have happily lived in Japan for many years, but then came back to the UK after 31 years. Indeed, we don't just have one incarnation but more just to learn.

We say, "Cogito ergo um". I'm no Latin scholar, but we should recognize and work from the concept that awareness is existence and before awareness is and was no existence. By the way, my wife passed in July 2022. Since that time she has visited me in dreams twice and in a poltergeisty sort of thing on her birthday. These bodies are temporary and we are having a blast with them.

Many of the questions which Dr Eben raises and which he is re exploring could be found in the explorations of Hindu tradition. For example, Consciousness being not of the brain but that it is shared by all mankind is a common place. These Hindu rishis had explored these things over 5000 years. If Dr Eden could marry the discoveries of this ancient tradition to his Western scientific conditioning , he could make a great contribution to the progress of our Western civilization. People like Echart Tolle and Sadhguru have said the same things as Dr Eben in very simplistic terms. Tolle and Sadhguru could be found on KZbin.

In meditation when mind stops, awareness is fully there. Mind and awareness are like day and night, you are either in the mind or in a state of awareness, they do not go together. That's my experience. Mind is always somewhere in the past or in the future; projecting philosophizing. Awareness is always in the here now, observing. You cannot think the here now and you cannot observe the past or the future.

Omg a month ago my twin sis died by suicide too. The night she died (before I knew she died) I had a strange burst of pure joy, happiness, warmth, love I never felt in my life. Even the day I came and found her the air felt off and I felt protected, like of course I was crying when I found her but I was able to keep myself together wayyyyyy more than I’d thought. (Through God love I know he was also protecting me) Ever since then she’s been with me in my dreams and even taken me to places only she would go (in real life through other people!) I been invited and did things she enjoyed / things we never did together. Every time I went to those places things felt weird but not a bad weird but like she was there with me. She visited me every night in my dreams which did not feel like dreams they felt like real, present.❤️ she even apologized to me the first time she came. Ever since then my dreams has been of us hanging out like regularly. Lol I loved her so much it makes me so happy to know that she’s at peace and even in peace she comes to visit me. How much love is that. I pray that you are doing okay ❤️ and reminded that your sis is doing well :)) you will be okay to!

One of the things that bugs me about filter theory is it makes the brain sound more causal than it is if we're talking about step-downs. If the brain is sort of it's own equilibrium system it might be just better to say that it's spun up from a more high fidelity version of something similar. The other thing I'd love to see closure on is the question that the findings of the bioelectric software of the body suggest - ie. that this also could be a place where long term memory can store (I don't think that would fly as an all-encompassing explanation but if it's not non-zero it might be worth knowing what kinds of memories do get stored that way).

4:30 - I don't think Mark Solms would find any significant contradiction with experience and selfhood being possible with a thrashed neocortex I do think that both the retained cognition of the experience and the speed and actualization of recovery really supports that there are networks of information deeper than just the nervous system, and in this case I'd say perhaps deeper even than the bioelectric 'software' layer that people have been starting to talk about as possibly the organizing factor for cell-differentiation and organ development in embryos. This is where we start having to consider that there are more information systems not on our immediate radar, and that feeds back into the kinds of theories of consciousness that people like Donald Hoffman, Karl Friston, etc. might put together. In a way I think some of these conscious theories of everything that are coming to the forefront are getting more mature in their handling of complexity from granular levels (anything from granular forms of idealism to something like 'deep continuity') and be able to look at this sort of thing without falling off into either the scientific materialism ditch nor the new age 'take it all literally' ditch. Also I hope that doesn't sound like I'm pitching this in a 'reductive materialist explanation' direction, I'm really just hoping that we're seeing the beginnings of the cognitive dissonance western culture has over these sorts of things come down and it's probably going to be through the mediation of our study of complex systems and consciousness.

From the ancient text Srimād Bhâgvâd Gitā (3,000 BC): "I am everything. I am in everything, yet away from everything. There is NOTHING but "Me". I reside in everyone, yet away from everyone. There has never been a time when "I" have not existed, or "you" have not existed. I have no beginning, nor middle, nor end. The "Ātma" (soul or "consciousness") is neither your body, your brain, nor your thoughts. It is something away from these. This life force resides in the heart. The "Ātma" has no beginning, nor middle, nor end. It cannot be cut, burnt, harmed or destroyed. It is immortal. All Āatmas return to the the "Param-Ātma" (Super Soul or "Super Consciousness") when the Ātma leaves your body. "You", at your very core, are your Ātma. The Ātma changes bodies as you change your old clothes to new ones. It moves through space time, with it's eventual goal being "moksha" or salvation, an end from the cycle or birth & rebirth on this planet. Your Ātma ("you") is just a temporary, transient resident in your body. The Ātma is not matter born, like your material body, brain or thoughts. It is not bound by space or time. It is eternal & has always existed, and always will"

Dr. Eben Alexander's experience showed human consciousness "collapses the wave function" to create "hard reality." Our consciousness is a work of cocreation, a concept that continually popped up in my poetry, seemingly out of thin air. Our bodies are mortal, but our spirit is Immortal--Then I discovered my poetry was Gnostic, but I had not known what Gnosticism was about. Then I began to understand the “dazzling darkness” I had witnessed in meditation, and the weird poetry many found so evocative. More details in my second book, Surviving the Micronova: This Train is on the Tracks"

@Kitty Cat He was revealed as at least in part a fraudster with repeated cases of medical malpractice, all of which he tried to cover up by manipulating medical records, denying compensation for patients having suffered from his malpractice etc., hence ... I think ssake1's comment is justified in this context. He was about to lose his position as a neurosurgeon anyways because of repeated malpractice and forging of medical records. All this information is available and can be researched if one takes the time to do so. While noone is perfect, you probably wouldn't want to have someone go inside your brain whose record is... well... spotted with malpractice. I think it would be recommendable if you educated yourself on the matter instead of attacking other visitors, no? In no way was that comment dense, but rather indicating the other, less shiny and charismatic side of Dr. Alexander. Now, that is not to say that his story might still have happened as he says. But once a liar... you get the idea.

I think Dr. Alexander should take a look at neural behavior that may be going on in the "underground", deeper layers of brain activity that may not be detectable by standard methods of monitoring. This may put to rest critics who claim that his experience may have arisen from those areas. (On the other hand, such an exam might put into doubt his entire experience. Regardless, those are questions and areas that should be explored to either further validate or debunk his interpretation of what happened.) Also would be good idea to know if it is possible that his entire experience could've arisen in a more or less "flash vision" with a false sense of time-elapsed in the first seconds that normal brain activity began again. I'm inclined to accept the validity of his experience as being exactly what he says they are, but believe it best to arm himself (and the rest of us) against those who may use the above still-open possible "normal" explanations to debunk the entire narrative.
@danbaron2561
@danbaron2561 3 жыл бұрын
I agree. Two possibilities. 1. Neural activity that is not detectable with current technology. 2. A "flash vision" upon cessation of the coma. I have thought about Number 2, before. The possibility seems obvious. The only reason I can think of that it has not been publicized, is that it might be true, so NDE advocates are afraid of it. I can easily imagine that the NDE occurs after the coma ends. Also, I have read that time experienced in dreams seems much longer than it actually is as measured by a clock. Eben Alexander could address those two items here, in a reply to your comment. Do you think he will? 😅🤣😂

Holy Scripture tells us there is NO reincarnation: 1. Hebrews 9:27 And just as it is appointed for people to die once-and after this, judgment. 2. Matthew 25:46 “And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” 3. Luke 23:43 And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”

The amount of good vibes coming from the afterlife makes people think that its absent of judgement. There are actions that would exit an individual from grace, right ? I don't want to conjure examples of human evil, as someone who practised human rights for a brief while, you'd have to take my word for it. Where the line is drawn is what drives multiple debates still. But it is so good to see that those who suffered, the intellects, the nice people and the average Jane and Joe have a heavenly home made of light with all the company. The commonality between those stories and the genuine corroborating accounts is so assuring. I often contemplated life after death with an interchange between scepticism and faith but now, after all that, I feel I know enough.

"This tiny distance between my ears - that brainstem circuit can measure time down to tens of microseconds. By influencing that modulatory circuit at that very primitive level of evolutionary biology you're having a very tremendous influence on consciousness. Binaural beat training can be very powerful." So he's talking about Ultrasound frequency at microsecond Time wavelength but the Binaural Beats are for ELF subharmonics.... So the overlap is the vagus nerve activation as Dr. Andrija Puharich figured out. about 55 minutes in.
@wesboundmusic
@wesboundmusic 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, @Voidisyingyan (interesting name, b.t.w.)! Polyvagal Theory by Dr. Stephen Porges uses those frequencies and the targeted stimulation of the Vagus nerve in such a way and helps e.g. children with autism spectrum or people suffering from PTSD - both so-called disorders seem very closely related to the fear regulating parts of our brains, which are closer to the brain stem than to the prefrontal neocortex (where e.g. the visual system and all "mind"-related activites are said to take place; I don't fully concur with that interpretation, either, as Dr. Hameroff and Sir Roger Penrose have developed a very plausible theory that suggests quantum states in the so-called micro tubules in the body - and those micro tubules are by no means confined to the brain, but everywhere). Hence, sound really works "miracles" in positively influencing our autonomous nervous system. Binaural beats is another good application of this, "Hemi-Sync" is yet another one, basically everything that stimulates theta and delta wave activation in the brain has a very soothing effect. And apparently it can induce spontaneous "disembodied" experiences, some of which are reported during NDEs. (I don't like the term "out of body" as I find it not accurate enough; if consciousness is non-local it is NEITHER inside nor outside the body. It very possibly IS the body, at least while we're incarnated.)

This was very informative, much more than how lovely everything was which a lot of NDEs seem to convey. Jesus often seems to appear, though I’m wondering if this is allegorical? Also NDErs seldom if ever seem to feel ‘whao! I must ask to pop back and reassure my wife, kids, friends etc. Does ones previous just lived life become almost a pin prick of irrelevance almost (lifetime review notwithstanding), that association with it fades rapidly. Also, I’ve never come across mention of alien beings among the ‘summerland’, I’m curious if anyone has heard mention of other non human type beings being encountered. 💚

Yes, but truly it's best for You to ask Him. He is alive and hears Your heart. He will make Himself known to You if You seek and pursue Him. It's a difficult answer. He knows where You are in understanding and He can show You in a way that You can understand and know. You can't teach Algebra to someone who doesn't know his numbers. Come to Him like a child and He will teach You and show You as much as You want to know. You will need to be patient though, but enjoy the journey as He shows You. He is very kind and extremely patient and encouraging. That's why it's best to hear it from Him. Peace to You.

I don't understand how he can say there is no sense of individuality on the other side. What would be the point of "lessons" and each of us having "guardian angels" if we don't maintain a sense of who we are once we cross over? I also don't think this is true because many NDE'ers, who actually clinically died, say there is a sense of self, but at the same time a sense of connectedness.

Just because you don't understand it, does not mean he is telling lies. I can personally attest to a personal meditation experience which felt like my consciousness rose beyond the local consciousness, and in that state, I did not reconize who I took myself to be prior to my experience at the time. Everything that mattered to who I previously took myself to be, did not matter to me during this experience.

His whole travels speak of himself, in that he is an existent being, but he's not an individual like he was in the body, where he was contained, even in his own ego. It's like when he separated from his body he also separated from the confines of ego and limited thought and entered into oneness with creatiion. This is very consistent with what other NDE'rs state.

Jesus didn’t teach reincarnation he taught resurrection. There is a big difference between them. Reincarnation is coming back as something else and resurrection is being raised back to life as yourself in spirit without flesh and blood. No one with flesh and bones can enter heaven but your soul, which your conscience is part of.
