I had 0 animation experience before I started using Cascadeur but now I use it everyday to make animations for my fighting game. AutoPosing can be kind of annoying at times when you're trying to get specific poses, but you can switch to point controllers/box controllers whenever for those precise poses. If you want to get into animation, this is a must have. I never would have even thought about making a fighting game if it weren't for this program. I can make idle animations and simple attacks in a matter of minutes. I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the price though. 30 USD a month is asking a lot if you're a newcomer with a passing interest in animation or if you're more experienced with another program.

Robyn, something is seriously wrong with your SEO / titles / channel settings. I tried searching for this video to show to a student and it did not show up for the search "Cascadeur" sorted by new. Much love and thank you for the quality content.

Really great summary and it is helpfull to see a professional animators opinion and not only about the positive things. I have to agree that sometimes it can feel like you are fighting against the software. But in my case usually it is because my blocking or timing is off. Btw, graph editor is already part of the software, but it's really not intuitive imo. And thanks for the shoutout ☺️

You’re welcome , your channel is so helpful for anyone trying to learn Cascadeur, especially for people who use Blender , so of course I had to mention it! I can’t believe I missed that there is already a graph editor , I’ll definitely try it out now. I’m sure once I’ve used the software more it’ll feel less like I’m fighting against it, I admit there’s a lot I still need to learn about it. I’ll definitely be watching more of your videos !

It took me so long, I know 😐 I was just trying to try out as much as possible with it to make sure I was really checking it out properly. Even so, there’s a ton more stuff I didn’t even get to. I’m definitely gonna keep using it and seeing what else it can do and get more comfortable with it

Nice review. I'm inspired to give it a try. Is it possible to turn off the assistant for sections of your animation, in case you wanted to handle parts of the animation 100 percentyourself?

there's a way to set controllers to fixed, so you manually have to move them into the pose, so even if you move other body parts, those ones stay put

This looks incredible, but sadly I've been so burned by AI that I'm a bit skeptical of anything that includes it. (Largely the fault of people who use it to devalue and replace creatives) I'll need to look into this to ensure it's built ethically. That being said, this is what AI usage in creative fields SHOULD be. Removing the tedium and making our jobs easier/faster, but still letting us have control over our projects.

I did recently try it out and to me it's like a marionette, pull 1 string and the rest of the character tries to predict the other bone poses. With a bones rig you only move 1 bone and you only affect its child bones and need to use FK or IK as a less intuitive secondary effect. Some rigs will give you trouble predicting the outcome of Cascadeur, some rigs will make poor predictions if it doesn't have the right bone location or distances.
@RobynO_O
@RobynO_O Жыл бұрын
Definitely, as I mentioned, it’s a bit tricky with more complex rigs

This is not a go to for animation it is just for casula use right now key frames animation is still king . AI is still in infancy when it come to animation
@RobynO_O
@RobynO_O Жыл бұрын
This is key framed animation. Nekki literally developed it to use in their professional game development pipeline so I wouldn’t really say that it’s only for casual use. But each to their own. It will be helpful for some people, and maybe not for others

@@RobynO_O I can agree to that I am in a studio who tried this software but we are working on a project but stylized keyframes my sup and principle animator said it's not worth it it's very early . And I heard them say it am a junior Animator .

yeah maybe it just wasn't the right solution for them or their style at the time. The recent release from Cascadeur had a lot of updates done that made some things way better. But it definitely is a tool that can be used profesisonally in certain use cases if one takes the time to understand it. i wouldnt say you should use it for all animation in something like a feature film or a series or with very complex custom rigs but it's definitely still useful for some instances @@This_Guy-

Meh, for those who prefer lazy (cheat) approach to the actual craft of animation like an act of painting vs just printing it I guess. No wonder Big houses ousting hundreds of workforce
