Crazy fact: Pell was supposed to be kill off during this arc back in 2001 but Oda had to changed it because of a certain event happen which was 9/11 and it would of cause backlash from ppl for it during that time. Just giving you this tip since ur wondering how he's alive

The flower represents her (Robin) Every time she activates an ability, flowers come out , she was dying, but she was saved, the water represents Luffy. The candle flame probably represents Will D, where she’s betting her life (But as this episode is filler the flower is not important)

idk how true it is but i heard that after 9/11, Oda didn't wanna kill a character with an explosion so he spared Pell. Oda plans a lot of stuff in advance but also does stuff on a dime.

Come on Erza *Bon Clay* is awesome and really funny, with some contraditions cuz what he did in Alabasta was really mess up, if u are saying about that then is ok to me tho, but he's outfit? I think *Oda* made his characther like that cuz he's suppose to be a representation of the *LGBT* people in One Piece, that's why he got so touched when *Sanji* said *"people are what they are in the heart."* So he still a human, no matters what we choose to wear or how we choose to be, we are all humans in the end. So u see, he suppose to be like that, I really like how *Oda* put so much diversity in his work and still can make it fun and serious on the same time. yeah, Pell surviving is one of the more controversial decisions Oda has made as a writer and contributes to the whole notion of "people rarely die outside of flashbacks in One Piece." I've seen a lot of fans repeat the myth that the reason he survived is because the chapter came out near 9/11, but this is just one of those things that fans made up and eventually got taken up as fact even though it has zero evidence behind it. Anyway, excited to see yall get to Skypiea!

So i'll just throw this out there. You have now seen a highly argued and contested part of One Piece with Pell surviving. There are theories that because he has the Falcon fruit(one of the fastest animals on earth" That perhaps he was able to dive away before the explosion went off and was thrown extremely far and found by the man who seemed to nurse him back to health. All and all a lot of people believe his sacrifice should have remained meaningful. I personally think i would be ok with him just being crippled or unable to fight ever again but sadly we know very little about his condition.

On the other hand, there is some oversensitivism towards LGBT and any critique is often seen as homophobia, thus my lil' joke.
