If people just leave their stuff lying around, bears can break into their tents and backpacks to eat human food (or anything with a smell, like soap) and get sick. Appalachian Mountains are awesome. I live in East Tennessee, which is also part of it. As for leaving a sandwich in a food lock up it would be NASTY! The food lock ups are to keep the bears away from it. Bears will get into trash, camp sites, anywhere they smell yummies and can make a meal of them. It's a real no-no to feed the bears.

In response to the comment about not taking a phone call... I used to get pissed when my best friend called me without saying he was first. Most of the time he told me first. But there were a lot of times that I told him I wasn't in the mood to talk, or made some dumb excuse. He called me October 3rd, 2019. I ignored the call initially. But called him back. We talked for hours, until his phone died. We shared laughs, and tears, and spoke of future plans. On the morning of November 6th, I got woken up to my phone ringing, it was his best friend, telling me he'd gotten into an accident the night before and passed upon impact. Don't ever take those phone calls for granted. One day they won't come again. I regret every single time I made an excuse to not speak with my best friend. We had no goodbye. No final "I love you." I haven't slept properly in almost two years as I type this (June 17, 2021). Don't ever pass up the opportunity to speak, or tell them you love them.

I think it's interesting that the pharmacist comes into town and all of a sudden people start dying. Maybe the pharmacist was from a family that owned the mining operation before it got closed down and now he's in town killing the journalists that seemed to bring their unethical standards to light. Also, the guy who was in the house was also at the pharmacy. Maybe the pharmacist hired him to do something.
