Yes much better. Not only is Nick very knowledgeable, but it's another pair of hands and also a safety back up. With Dan's blasé attitude to safety (and I don't think that will change), it only takes a slip or fall with no helmet and cracking your head open, bleeding and unconscious to die within a very small time. If Nick is there he can stem the bleed and call emergency services to get help within 20 mins. That increases the survival rate from 10% to 90%. And Dan can do the same for Nick. Nobody is immune from a slip, trip, or fall. The buddy system is important. I know some people don't realise the danger of construction sites but this is fact

Hello Dan, great work you're doing! I have a tip for you. If you use a router when preparing the wooden beams, you can work even more efficiently. To do this you will need a router, preferably a small one or preferably a one-handed router, which I think I have already seen in one or your videos. So, you need a round milling cutter with a guide ring that approximately corresponds to the curve of the I-beams. It is now important not to position the milling machine from above, but rather in front of the head. The process would then be: First, as usual, mill the depth with the Mafell milling machine, then mill the curve with the one-hand milling machine and then the other sides, as a replacement for mortising with the chisel. That's how I would do it. I am a carpenter and was self-employed for over 35 years until my sudden illness 4 years ago, also like you, mostly alone with the occasional helper. I look forward to every new video and wish you continued strength, joy and fun with the project. With this in mind, good luck and good health, best regards Matthias

Watching Dan set those beams in mortar I remember a trick we used to use when leveling heavy equipment. The mortar shrinks a bit as it dries so we'd add a bit of iron powder into the mix, there was a recipe but I don't remember it. As the mortar set the iron would oxidize and the iron oxide took up more volume than the iron powder. So the end result was the mortar didn't shrink and the equipment stayed level.

Anna was thinking, “This wasn’t here the last time I looked! I’m not so sure about this! Do these guys know what they are doing? I’m going to beat a hasty retreat!” Great progress. Perfect catch of Anna on the new floor and Nick encouraging her! The work continues apace. Good stuff.

Dan, you are such a bad influence. Now I see noggins and I get all levels of happy. Lol! I am so thrilled to see the floors going in on the opposite side now, it's really no time now and you will be at the top working on the next section of roof! You are truly a wonder and you deserve all of the success that you are working so hard towards and have earned!

So good to see that Springtime has come to France, and that you are so carefully, and persistently pursuing your dream. The work is beautiful -- it is so interesting to watch -- makes me want to do it myself, but my 88 years sort of preclude that effort. Anyway, thank you so many times over for sending this into our homes that we may enjoy your efforts and the results of them. The garden is looking great - and the first flowers are beautiful!!

It is wonderful to see your hard work pay off, by having all these new tools. Your floor installation is so much more efficient and streamlined. Your backs and knees will thank you for those little carts to move the beams around. You guys are starting to work very smart. Posting only every few days is a smart idea. I don’t know how you managed the pressure of putting out a daily vlog for an entire year. That’s not sustainable, long term. Health and happiness come first. Great job, guys. Take the weekend off.

Just a couple of points. If you are milling un kiln dried lumber for your joists, it will dry as it ages in a heated building. The steel I beams will not shrink. As your joists shrink the beams will protrude and cause a hump in your finished floors. Lift the joist at least a 1/2 inch above the beam and lay your OSB to bridge the metal. I am enjoying your project keep up the great work.
