Great to have you back in W Yorkshire where there are many abandoned tunnels and old railway routes closed back in the 1960s !!

Seeing all the deposits on the walls and roof of that makes you realise what filthy polluting things our beloved locomotives were. Thanks Ant for another trip out.

Great tunnel! I hope it does come back into use. This should happen to all of the abandoned tunnels!

Excellent. Having just had a Christmas holiday in Nottingham and had a ride upon the city's tram route to Phoenix Park, I can visualise what a joy it would be to see this route re-purposed. We love trams! Thank you for another fantastic video. We look forward to them!

Thanks for the video Ant. I live near the tunnel. I've wanted to have a look through the tunnel but not been able to with it being blocked up. I hope that it does get put to good use.

Thanks for this tunnel video Ant. Made a nice after Christmas present! A line I know very little about except that one of my friends lived a short distance from the tunnel some years ago. Nice to see that the tunnel is in quite good order. It would be great if it was to be reused as a tram route someday then the infrastructure would no longer be wasting away. Keep these interesting videos coming!

Hi Ant - the DFT is obviously for Dept of Transport, and as an ex railwayman, I would say that BPL means Bradford - Pudsey Loop. Thanks for another great video.

Excellent video, the tunnel itself looks in good nick. Bound to be a bit of stone movement over the years. Would be nice to see it back in use but I fear financial issues will prevent it from happening. Thanks again for your efforts in making the videos. Stay blessed 👍

I hope it gets converted into a tram tunnel, as long as the government don't block it! Not literally! Great video, Ant.

Looks in pretty good nick, apart from that but at the entrance which looks like stone theft! Be great to have trams running through there. They've been very successful elsewhere & would reduce road traffic.

The mental bars sticking out before each portal are where you would hang an inspection light. Like the ones you would see a railwayman carry.

It's sad that a Railway Line closes, even sadder if they want to infill the cutting or tunnel, but good news if they want to re-open it up again for Train / Tram use!!! 🙂🤔🚂🚂🚂

Thanks' Ant, love a good tunnel video, let's hope this one could be put back into some use. I wonder if that stonework at the beginning had been stolen, there doesn't look to be a good reason for it to have collapsed.

A fantastic video, as always. On average, how long does it take you to present a fully finished video, from the initial footage gathering and exploration, through the map and music overlays to the finished production?
@viking123614 сағат бұрын
Your BPL is the Engineers Line reference for that line. Bramley to Pudsey and Low Moor line. The number would usually be the structure number. Full list of ELRs are online search Railway Codes.

That looks to be in pretty good condition. There seemed to be some bricks or rubble at the gated (far) end, but whether that had come down, or was the result of other activity wasn't clear. Certainly that air shaft looked perfect. Were there signs of any cracks in the masonry? It seems that it wouldn't necesarily involve an enormous amount of work to bring it back into use, apart from some re-pointing.

While it would be great to see the tunnel reused, the proposed tram system, as published, is in two parts: the second part, the Leeds - Bradford link, has three route options. Lots of hurdles to overcome methinks.

Have you seen the abandoned railway in the garden at Pudsey? Nicknamed Toy Town?
@jasinere35Күн бұрын
yorkshires riddled with abandoned tunnels one of which isnt too far from pudsey one thats the queensbury tunnel shame they all wanted to bring it into use as a sustrans but i made my predictions & they did exactly what i said they would do partly fill it in
@jasinere35Күн бұрын
just hope they dont apply for abandonment especially since the areas known for it
@Faluzeer23 сағат бұрын
Aye, a shame, I was really hoping they would allow it to be reopened, but Bradford simply cannot afford to it.
@jeffl32059 сағат бұрын
How can the water infiltration be stopped? Isn't this what led to the deterioration and collapse of other abandoned tunnels? ❤ Reusing this tunnel for the tram project seems a task too big.

This is just the latest in a series of grandiose plans for the regeneration of Bradford, like all the previous plans it will eventually end up quietly discarded. The tram link would be too expemsive and its route would take it through Holmewood Estate, a large sprawling and deprived council estate. The buses into Holmewood are regularly stopped or diverted due to vandalism or becauses the buses get stones thrown at the. Buses can be diverted, Trams can't. I would much rather see the tunnel open up and be used as walking/cycle path. That is much more viable.
@TrekkingExploration17 сағат бұрын
I definitely agree about the walking route. So many like it too
