It's really great to see in-depth what is going on a Cubase project in real-time. I'm starting out and I find this great, since I learn best by observing this kind of stuff (how the modulations work, how the tracks are layered on top of each other etc.) rather than some guy explaining two hours about all these features.

Maybe it's just me, but when the strings go up high and is supposed to be the focus, it always feels a bit empty in the higher register for me. I'd have doubled most of the violin + viola sections, and in some cases where you did do it, i feel like it's still not enough (some wws might help). I mean, if you compare the texture @1:32 with 1:40, it feels a little awkward that the strings didn't progress the same way the rest of the music did. But fantastic job, and thank you for sharing this!

Hey Team, I am just setting up my studio to do this... Is Cubase enough DAW? And I like a piano feel 88 key keyboard. Best source of modern sounds? I want both realistic instruments from around the world and crazy cool Synths. Does cubase come with all the modern sounds you need? Or please recommend sound sources? Thx for advice.
@jurapuclin4 жыл бұрын
Hey,, cubase alone is not enough. It’s only for writting notes, playing and mixing. You would need kontakt 6, and then a few orchestral libraries in kontakt. And you use kontakt 6 inside of cubase. Cubase has some useful synths but I’d suggest checking out Omnisphere. Lots of great sounding patches to use if you’re still not good at making your own sounds.

Amazing ! ^^ Tell me, I was thinking about your DAW and is the Element version of Cubase limited by it's features, options and capacities ?
@jurapuclin8 жыл бұрын
It kinda is..it has a limit of 64 midi tracks..other than that I don't have any problems with it..Here's the comparison www.steinberg.net/fileadmin/files/PRODUCTS/Cubase/Generation_7/Cubase_7/Downloads/Cubase_Comparison_Chart.pdf
@ilaipark92828 жыл бұрын
+Puclin Music Thank you very much for the answer ! So is the Element version good to do film/epic scoring without big limits ?
@jurapuclin8 жыл бұрын
No problem..If you're making just soundtracks, it's okay but if you plan on scoring films then you'll be missing one more feature, that helps with setting the tempo change so that the downbeat lands exactly when the video frame changes ...but if you don't plan on scoring to picture and you don't mind the 64 MIDI track limit you should be fine.

Melo Keyz You should check what “free royalty” in music license is. Every single penny you earn is based on the exposure that the music has in any video of KZbin. So, you won’t get demonetized, and no one will, but every earning that they get using your music will go to your account

Good job man, that's absolutely fantastic! I do have a remark though; I see that you have a lot of midi tracks in your project, I suppose you used the VST instruments of Cubase for their sounds and not the sounds built-in an external midi keyboard (since you would have to record those ''external'' sounds via audio tracks), am i right???!!! And if so, is that because you don't have a good external midi keyboard, or is it because you just chose VST instruments of Cubase out of preference???!!!
@jurapuclin8 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes I used VST instruments....I opened a program called kontakt 5(virtual salmpler) and there I have a few sample libraries which give me sounds..I chose to do it this way because everybody does it this way,:),..composers i mean.
@firhk8 жыл бұрын
Nice! And since VST instruments sounds are in Cubase already, you won't have to convert all thoses midi tracks in audio tracks for an eventual mixdown, right ? cause Cubase would automatically keep the sounds of your VST instruments in place right? Whereas if you were using sounds from an external midi keyboard, you would have have to convert midi tracks in audio tracks, right???!!!!
@jurapuclin8 жыл бұрын
Yes yes...you can have everything in midi until the final export to audio file.

That's Awesome !!! I want to make music for my video games but I'm a noob about this kind of stuff. Will I be OK with a 25 keys keyboard? Is the $40 AKM320 good enough or should I go with a $100 MKII Mini ? My plan is to start with LMMS and then move to Cubase Elements (and now I see I'll also need Kontakt 5).
@jurapuclin6 жыл бұрын
Kenneth Solano i’m not familiar with LMMS.. i had 25 key keyboard at first which kinda worked for a while but i found it a bit constraining .. i would suggest 64 keys or if you want even more.:) now i have M-audio keystation 88.. so nothing fancy..just so I can easily write everything in.

how do you start with this, how do you begin to make the perfect film score?
@jurapuclin8 жыл бұрын
haha...It's far from perfect..but thanks..Most of the time I personally would start with chord progressions for the main theme ..Just playing some chords and trying to come up with the melody on top of it...Then when I feel like I have something good I would sketch it in cubase and then strangely enough would probably start working on the beginning of the track or something like that.. :D Although On this track I started from the beginning and then moved towards the end. Hence the pretty thematic beginning. Once the beginning is done I'd Play it and hopefully would kinda vaguely hear in my head what should go next.sketch it..play it..build on that and so on..
