"Data as a pigment" "Computer creativity" "AI art" The things he professes to love will be destroyed by this rush into generative AI. Capitalism is not high-minded, it's not interested in nuance, it wants money, fewer employees to pay, and speed. No doubt some people will benefit from generative AI in the art space, but most people will be replaced, along with the human creative process, centuries of tradition, and lifetimes of learning. Shame on these people for advocating for that. It's always been very telling that AI "art" tools were not made by artists.

artists didnt make photoshop either. i have huge respect for people who make the tools that make it easier for artists to create, but yes everything else you said is true. its literally the jurassic park line “Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.” much of ai solves problems we never had, and is creating way more problems than we had before.

@@spacekitt.n yes BUT, digital paint it is not easier at all. You still need to know how to paint, color theory and time consuming process, there is more control in certain things but the process is similar. I know people very fast and good with acrylics but slow and sloppy at digital printing.

I need AI for cleaning my apartment, do time consuming things I don't like. I don't need AI for Art.
