Astronomers are excitedly waiting for a "new star" to appear in the sky soon. T CrB consists of a double star system: a white dwarf and a red giant. The white dwarf draws matter from the red giant, causing periodic nova explosions. According to historical records, this event repeats approximately every 80 years. Its last eruption occurred in 1946, and the next eruption is expected any time until September 2024.
T CrB is a mysterious nova because it enters a phase called 'high state' before and after the explosion. There is also a second, smaller explosion after the main explosion. This time, astronomers will be able to observe T CrB in more detail thanks to advanced technologies. This could yield new information about white dwarfs, novae, and even the crisis of cosmology. For this reason, the T CrB nova is not only a celestial event, but also a gateway to the universe.

When you watch this video, you will learn the answers to the following questions.
What is T CrB and why is it important?
How do recurring nova explosions occur?
What is the reason why T CrB explodes approximately every 80 years?
What are the peculiar properties of T CrB? (high state phase, second explosion, etc.)
What might observation of T CrB shed light on the cosmology crisis?
What can be learned from T CrB about white dwarfs, novae and supernova explosions?
What can be learned from T CrB about stellar binaries in the universe and the evolution of these systems?
