It was killing me. Both of them not even trying to close a door. Fisk even closed one on accident at one point and never realized. And Fooster struggled standing up so he missed the extra survivor. Oh well lol. They’ll get it on the full release I’m sure

I like the artistic choice to show the carnage of the event in panning shots that parallel the mayors speech. It acts as showing the irony in the mayors statements. From the very beginning, we hear the mayors words from a radio settled atop a small shelter on a roof. We see empty streets and a lone waving texas flag. When the mayor talks about “grit” and “spirit”, it’s contrasted by the desolate street and the pitiful encampment in the shot. This is not the wild, proud Texas that the Mayor speaks about- it is lonely and almost barren of life, and the life that remains is struggling to get by. When we see the zombie in the car, that’s when the Mayor speaks of leaving the city. Abandonment of his citizens. The car we focus on (the red one in the middle) is stuck between two cars- showing how though the mayor is free to up and leave as he pleases, the regular citizens of Texas are stuck. The car itself could represent the mayors escape, or the frozen traffic could represent how trapped the people are. My favorite parallel is with the police department. The mayor talks about the “boys in uniform” just as the camera passes a dead officer- showing either the Mayor is incompetent, unable to see the true danger of the situation- or more likely- he is giving false hope to the people of Texas so that they don’t resist him. I also like how the radio filter over his voice is gone here, to symbolize getting closer to his actual location. Then, the mother and the baby. The Mayor is the mother, and Texans are the child. He was unable to protect them, just as she was unable to protect her baby.
