One of my favorite videos on all of KZbin. Everything, from the music to the narration to the cinematography, is really well done. First time I saw it I was not prepared for the emotional response that I had. I was expecting just a nice video of some guy on the street looking through a telescope. To see so many different people's wonderment and joy brought tears to my eyes. I like to come back to this video every now and then when I'm feeling a bit exasperated with how bad we sometimes treat each other. Space can be a great unifier and give people a sense of hope - if the will just look up!

Late but this also brought some tears to my eyes. Having everyone become ecstatic viewing something so common as the moon in more detail, knowing that any human will feel joy from simply viewing the moon, is incredible. Yes, it is amazing. I grew up 23 miles from an ancient hilltop in West Texas that the Apaches considered sacred. When we stare at the cosmos, on a cold clear night, the sky literally shifts to 3D in your vision. I have enjoyed many nights with family and friends at this spot, and laughed at their gasps of astonishment when it "happens".

The miners spread the white dirt with bits of Opal and Potch on to the roads and camp areas . and on a dark night the Milky Way is enormous reflecting off the ground and the bits of opal .makes you feel like you are suspended in space amazing 3D experience

I was lucky enough to grow up with a mother who thought nothing about waking me up at 12am to go outside to see meteor showers,planetary sightings and a rare comet. I think it's because it's so close you can see real detail. Looking at like Saturn, Venus, Jupiter is cool and all, but on the moon you can see craters and rock formations. Pity it's hard (impossible?) to get Lunar Lander level of detail, that would blow people minds.

WOW this just made me cry. My Dad just died this year 3 days before my birthday and when I was about 5 he bought me a telescope, a good one because I was so obsessed with astronomy then and now and I remember this exact reaction and just sitting there next to my pool with my Dad staring at the moon for hours. I hadn't thought of that in years so this was very touching and sentimental for me. I wish I could see it from your telescope because though I got a great look I'm sure it's nothing compared to your view. This was so special, thanks for making this. I always thought I was such a strange kid and adult because I felt an actual.anger that I could never go to space, it didn't seem fair that I'd never get to touch the moon that has always meant so much to me.

When my grand-daughter was 3 yrs. old, she lived in L.A. when I lived in Maine. I used to call her when the moon was beginning to rise in L.A. and ask if she could see the SAME MOON I was looking at from so far away. I used to pretend that we could both see it at the same time and she liked that. We always ended our calls with, “Meet you on the Moon”. I had forgotten those moments, until I watched your video. BRAVO to you for a beautiful gift of enlightening these city folks! It is 2:00 a.m. and we are now living north of L.A. Sleep alludes me because my grand-daughter, now 15 yrs. old is lying in a hospital bed. She is at Cedar’s-Sinai going in to her 5th week in ICU with what they are calling a “rare virus”. There is no question in my heart what that virus is. Likely some mutation of Covid-19. We are praying that she will recover. Thank You for the beautiful act of showing Angelenos how to “Meet you on the Moon” and for reminding this Grandma of those precious moments.

I used to do this in my neighborhood. When people would walk by I'd invite them to see the moon. I had an 8 inch dobsonian telescope. The light from the moon would light up their eye and they always gasped. Pictures and video can't do it justice. Not only can you see seemingly the tiniest detail, but you feel see the air of the atmosphere slightly rippling the image. I used to see bats fly across the face of the moon through my telescope, from a great distance. They were tiny little flapping dots, and it would take four or five seconds for them to cross it. Pure magic.

Up until I was 5ish, I thought the moon and sun followed me, and only me, around. My mom said something like, "ya honey you'll always see them because they want to be with you forever" or something like that, so I guess I took it to heart lol. I would run back and forth throughout my yard and cul-de-sac to see if the sun ever 'left me' and it never did. And then at night i would check to see if the moon was always there and it was! ...then my dad told me that that happens to everyone and ya I cried some, but I've been hooked ever since. everyone seeing the sun and moon wherever they went stumped me and I had to find out how and things went on from there. so yeah. Lol so embarrassing!! but that's what sparked my interest in space and all that.

Oh my God! I'm in tears! I got goosebumps running up and down my arms. I've watched it three times already and I still get the same reaction. I had these binoculars for years. On a warm summer night, I was enjoying a cup of Turkish coffee in my back garden. My home was on a hill and had a beautiful view. the moon was shining and for the first time, I turned the scope to the moon. My reaction was the same with the people in this video... Fucking amazing. I was asking myself why didn't I think about that before.

and that's the best part, you don't need a big telescope to get the same awe and sense of wonder that the people here did. I have a really good pair as well. First time I saw the moon through them it left me speechless :D

That's because the moon is *extremely* close to us - just 80-90 times the distance from LA to NY. And it is also reasonably large. What we see when the the moon is full is about twice the area of the U.S. No wonder you don't need the Hubble space telescope for that... :-)
