Nice catch on eBay. I've stopped looking there or anywhere else on-line until the Canada Post strike is over. The US won't accept any mail to Canada and I don't expect many other countries are either.
@jerrystampsАй бұрын
@GarryRobertson Thank you. Yeah, I can't send any stamps to Canada because of the strike.

Hi Jerry! I think you did a good buy on eBay. There are quite a bit of older stamps. Nice stamps from Hungary - they are not CTOs as one frequently get of Hungary. The "Saargebiet" is now part of Germany. You got quite a nice lot of Egyptian and Ethiopian stamps. The last miniature sheet you showed with the tiger is quite beautiful. Thanks for sharing, Jerry! Take care!

@GreatStampAdventure Hi Charnie. Thank you for the information about the German stamps and I am glad you enjoyed them. I thought you would like the tiger, it is beautiful.

Some very nice stamps. Just a few notes which may be helpful. 04:23 I believe the SHS overprint is for use in Croatia. The SHS stands for (Kingdom of the) Serbs, Croats (as in Hrvatska) and Slovenes. Below the SHS it also has HRVATSKA which is Croatia in Croatian. 07:21 koztarsasag means republic in Hungarian. 12:30 The stamps with Hitler on are from Bohemia and Moravia (part of Czechoslovakia). 23:07 The tiger miniature sheet is from Abkhazia.

Last Souvenir Sheet with a tiger is from Abkhazia, a breakaway region from Georgia. I believe stamps from Abkhazia cannot be used on mail outside of the region because it is not recognized by UPU. Quite Nice.😁

@CollectStamps Hello, Thank you for the information. It is quite interesting that it can't be used outside of the region.

Jerry, nice buy. good selection of earlier stamps. Like Gary Robertson mentioned, due to the postal strike I have not been able to buy any stamps, or fountain pens for that matter. Take care.

5.50 pounds for the whole lot? You did very good I think! This is an interesting collection of older stamps with a very nice variety. Seeing all those pages of stamps from Hungary didn't surprise me and kind of brings me back to my collecting days when I was a boy. In my younger days, like many kids, I collected everything, stamps from all over the world. Being a kid on a very limited budget (ha!) I would more often than not buy cheap grab bags or send for these ads of 200 or 300 stamps for a dollar or two. Inevitably the country that I would almost alway end up with the most stamps were those Magyar Posta (later learned that they were from Hungary). I've always wondered why that was. Was there an industry or system in Hungary that would sell huge quatities of stamps to western dealers for very cheap?
@jerrystampsАй бұрын
@Rangersly Hello, I'm not sure about the Hungarian stamps, maybe because they were producing them in huge quantities they were cheap. Thank you for watching the video.

Hungary, like other “Iron Curtain,” Soviet block countries, printed millions of stamps to be precancelled and sold mostly to “Western” collectors as a means of making money. CTO’s never intended for domestic postal use. You know them by full gum with neat, often in the corner, cancellations. Most popular with some thematic collectors…. Value today, nearly worthless is you are trying to sell ‘em

Nice buy. I have most of them still a nice buy. Was the shipping a lot it is out of control over here. It is half the cost of what I buy.
