You need to add that you only want INTEGER solutions. Otherwise, a can be anything, and b is readily determined, and the sums are wildly different. For example, a = 4, b = 5/9, or a = 2, b = 1.4 , etc.

Ah... I thought the problem was: a²+2ab+b²=9 Then: (a+b)²=9 a+b=SQRT(9) a+b=±3
