If the documents of the house are in his name, the bank cannot take it as collateral without him signing any legal paper before booking the loan. Mali is a very poor country riven by political instability and terrorism/conflict. The Nigerians in Mali went there of their own free will - en route to Libya/Tunisia, where they board unseaworthy vessels in the quest to reach Europe. Why, one may ask, are they fleeing Nigeria? That is a question for them to answer. Meanwhile, it is grossly unfair to accuse Malian authorities of inhumanity because the food the Nigerians are given is not up to their standard - when millions of Malian citizens suffer food insecurity as a matter of course. ... The Nigerians in Mali have the option to return home.
