Why do we forget all the beautiful things God teaches us in our life? How come we cannot hold on and remember all the advice God speaks to our hearts, either in prayer or through the people and circumstances of our lives?

Remains me of the Lykovs who escaped the Communists in the Russian Tiaga and became detached from the world; one of their family survives out there to this day, named Agafia. Her story can be found here on KZbin, "Surviving in the Siberian wilderness for 70 years." I wonder how she is doing, God bless her. I think she is still out there.

Thank you Father Seraphim for your delightful unselfishness and great humility. I follow what you have to say and look forward to your guidance and wisdom. Please pray for my dear 92 year old Mother. She is in hospital recovering from a serious infection. I am concerned because she is all alone in a side room and the main ward has Covid19 patients. There are only 4 nursing staff for 26 patients. God bless you and keep safe.

Oh! Thank you for this video! When I turned 50 I started backpacking and spent many nights, sometimes literally lost in the wilderness, out in the open with nothing more than a tarp for shelter. I'm convinced the experience of 'the desert', or absolute solitude for days on end was instrumental in my conversion to Catholicism. Since converting, I've stopped getting out: I go to Mass every day. But, maybe this video is a little push telling me it's time to go back into the woods. I got seriously homesick watching the video Any way, thank you! I always get a lot out of your videos! ♥️

It is so true what Father Seraphim says about not knowing what we will need in advance, and how God gives us small gifts or inspires us to pray before an event. My husband was a week overdue for his review meeting with a new manager. Meanwhile, his supervisor is good friends with an employee who lives in the same locale as my husband( who works remotely). Because, of this my husband was convinced that the plan was to let him go, and give this friend my husband's job. I told my husband he should pray with thanksgiving to God for having all things in His hands, and that he should stop worrying. He had the meeting yesterday, and not only did he get an excellent review but he got a raise for the first time in five years!! (The budget for raises had been frozen(. God is good and we need to trust Him even when it looks like everything is conspiring against us. That is the time to trust Him and thank Him. Bless you Father, and all of you.

God bless your soul, Father! The Holy Spirit sometimes erases from our momory some things, for our benefit. Ofcourse sometimes is our fault. For example if He gives us some directions to help somebody, he can delete that from our memory to not fall into pride. The devil always wants to steal our present... so if He helped you do something amazing 2 days ago, there is no point in remembering it today or tomorrow just to feel that prinde and "emotional sugar" about ourselves. (Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”) That tomorrow represents any other time except the now.

Christ teaches us constantly, He guides our lives step by step, He keeps knocking at the closed gates of our hearts in the hope that sooner or later, even just a fraction of a second before the end of our earthly life, we shall hear His voice and welcome Him - not for His sake, but for ours. May we all be blessed, dear one.

St Seraphim of Vyritsa is such a beautiful saint, dear Svetlana. His life is a great inspiration for so many people, the way he and his wife decided, later in their life, to become monastics in different monasteries. God so loved them for their faith that his wife ended up being sent to take care of him in his old age, so they died close to each other. They are both canonised as Saints - St Seraphim and St Seraphima - and their holy relics are placed one next to the other to this day. By their prayers, may you (and all of us) be blessed, dear Svetlana.

Back in tent, again, brother - there must be pilgrims...

We wish, dear Jovan! The last pilgrimage we had at the Monastery was in August 2019! I am back in my tent because Lent is approaching and I want to at least TRY to prepare myself for the Resurrection. A bit of time spent with myself, alone with God, can only do my heart good. Be blessed, dear one.

I can vouchsafe that everything you said is true. One spiritual father told me that these gifts are also called credits. They are given to us to show us what we could do potentially and then the gifts are withdrawn and then what? Probably, it is like a candy taken away so that we work harder for it to get it back again. Maybe we will not get that candy in this life. I don’t know anything about it, but don’t you find that type of God’s instruction amazing? Greetings from Serbia!

Thank you for the video, Father. What was the recording you played at the end? I would love to be able to listen to it. It's very beautiful. Best wishes to you during your time in the desert.

Those are the Troparion and Kontakion of St Sisoes the Great, one of the earliest and most wonderful Saints of the Egyptian desert; he is also one of the two Protectors of our Chapel (with St Brendan the Navigator). The singing was done here, at the Monastery.

Thank you for your message father, this is a stupid question but how do we recognize a gift from God? Do you mean things like prayer?

Thanks Father! It would be nice to see your videos cut in half , example instead of 17 minutes perhaps 7 minutes of quick teaching. Keep up the good work, God bless you!

Hello father, I don't know if you will see my comment and answer it. I'm a Russian Canadian, a protestant, but recently I became very curious about orthodoxy. I have a question, I hope you can answer. I had a mentor in my church who became like a father for me, but he died almost 4 years ago. I can't decide for myself if it would be wrong to seek a spiritual father again, someone who can help me to get closer to God, or should I wait when God sends me one, and rely on God's provision and timing in this matter? Thank you in advance.

Is there an email or place where we can contact you to ask personal question? I’m sure you’re extremely busy and don’t have time to answer a bunch of questions so I understand if you don’t.

My dear Luke... had I known... The thing is that this happens every time I try to do something I know will help me with my prayer. Every time something happens, something goes wrong, there is a reason to delay, a reason to cancel. There comes a time when you just have to get yourself moving and simply DO what you know you have to do. May we all be blessed, dear one.

Dear Yonas, I know what lack of love is, because I struggle to love too. I once heard this story about St Sophrony of Essex: someone asked him what to do, because (like you and I) he had no love. St Sophrony answered him saying if we act AS IF wee had love (even if we don't actually have it), God will repay us for our patience and humility, and He will fill our hearts with true love. It is not up to us when God gives us the grace of true Love, but it is in our power to act with love in the world, to do the acts of love in the world. May we all be blessed.

Praying for you, Yonas. Jesus is with you, nearer than you think. We love because He first loved us, and while we were yet sinners, He died for us. Let God love you.
