i worked on an urbanite press for 18 years, what a sweet heart, just keep the repairs up and it will run forever. only down side, you had to run over 25 thousand and hour to save copies, because of the flying tucker folder. what made mine unique was it had an ATF jaw folder also, which allowed us to run slower and also run double parraell.

We had an S/U jaw folder on one of ours. Great for commercial work.

Don't know what kind of press was in the newspaper my dad worked for, but I remember being able to hear it spooling up from outside at the loading dock when I was a kid and we were delivering with grandma. I love that sound.

Got laid off in March after 15 long years with my company. I did everything from mailroom/downstacking to color and registration, rolltending and Utilities to pre press and physically outputting the plates that are hung on the press and have the images. Unfortunately there is less and less demand for physical print as everything goes online. Most big newspaper publicators heavily rely on commercial print to keep the revenue, but even then most companies are barely scraping by

Yes i agree with you. Mark zuckerberg steal ours food on the table. Since I’m from malaysia so our company print 3 types of languages malay/english and chinese. Malay around 2000 copies, english 1800 and chinese 7-8000 copies per day. Luckily we have two line press machines. Goss Urbanite and goss community. We run the urbanite once or twice a month depending on my mood because the wastage is to high and the maintenance costs also high. I can’t imagine the day that our company announce the press will be shut down. I now My company is big they got so many subsidiary like palm, timber and so on. I’m 33 know and can i keeps my current position as a assistant chief if i go to other subsidiaries?! 😂

I worked prepress for a Goss Urbanite and it was a delightful machine to work for. No issues with registration or anything. It was a smooth producer for our plant.

Dude same I was a pressman for 15 years. Got laid off in March, now I work for Georgia Pacific on a wallboard line and it's so foreign to me. I lost everything my seniority, my holiday and vacation time, all of it. Now I'm 33 and basically starting fresh in a new trade.
