In my area they did take out a paved road, and go back to a gravel road. The old road was so bad that they put up warning signs for a rough road, and reduced the speed limit to 35 from the original 50. The gravel road is a big improvement.

If the paved road was actually maintained, It would not have turned into total failure. My local main roads, they grind 2-3 inches off every 10 years and repave. Done in a couple days per mile. I understand the $ part of it though.

I used to work at a GM dealer in Laramie, WY, fresh out of automotive tech school (WyoTech) in the quick lube. Folks would truck from Cheyenne up over the mountain pass and then stop in for an oil change in those Acadias or Terrains with the transverse 3.6L. I can agree, based on scalding hot experience, that the oil filter location under the exhaust manifold and 1” from the radiator, when everything is 200°, is *the* *worst.*

In a standard alternator there is a three phase rectifier. Its build by six Diodes. Your bad signal shown by the pico-scope is caused by a bad phase of the rectifier. Back in older days we were actually able to replace them but since money is more important than anything things habe changed. A company does more likely sell a new alternator then a cheap diode set. However with some messing there is still the possibility to replace them... but whats more difficult is, to get the housing together right again. Most of the time they are glued together. Thanks for your very cool and nice content ! 💪

Me too. Retired last March right about time crap hit the fan. Wiring up storage shed couple days ago and managed to nearly attempt a frontal lobotomy on myself. Pulling on a wire with needle nose...whoops. Your skull leaks profusely with very little damage. Stream of blood the size of a pencil. House looked like a crime scene. Gonna be several days for it to heal. OUCH!

@@WatchWesWork Nahhhh, it was barely stuck this week... It's the OHV units that have been drinking enough water to drown a horse that are killing me these days!

The Ford dealer in Healdsburg, CA had a dot matrix printer in their service department until last summer. It printed on the three copy paper with the tear off sides. I always marveled that they still had that thing running after all these years. They replaced it not because it broke down, but because getting the paper printed up with their header, etc, was getting harder and harder.

The electronics and computers in todays cars make them convenient but a pain to diagnose. I miss the simpler times of the 70's & 80's engineering.

I've been to California 4 or 5 times. Always enjoyed it. Probably wouldn't want to stay, but fun to visit.

Congratulations on Mrs. Wes's Master graduation. It's not easy to achieve that level. Next step. Her Doctorate. The Wes will have to address his sweet heart as yes dear Doctor, the honey do list is done.

Wes, I dig the channel. I just want to say the coolest part of this video was the Ford edge grill install. I only wish you could have included a before and after video. I can't imagine how much power that added. Talk about blowing your hair back, pinning you to your seat, raw power. Probably needed it with that trailer towing package you added. Cheers

I have a 2006 Silverado with 171,000 and have never replaced any of those steering parts. My truck has spent its entire life in Eastern and North Iowa in the rust belt. However, I do drive my truck daily and never sits to long. I will say I have had to put a reman motor from Jasper at 113k as I had an oil return port crack and take out cylonder 2 and 5. Truck 171k motor 58k. Great videos!!! Congrats to Mrs. Wes!!!

WWW is my favourite channel on You Tube. Videos like this are part of the reason why, showing what obstacles come up in Wes's day to day worklife, great for people to see his job isn't straightforward. Great mechanic, great guy, and of course the lovely Mrs Wes is always nice to see as well. Great channel Wes, thank you for allowing us to get a glimpse into this part of your life. Cheers from New Zealand.
