Fun fact: The Kingdom of Italy, Austria, Tsarist Russia, the Ottoman Empire, and Siam all openly supported or maintained friendly relations with the Union during the Civil War. We attempted to recruit one of Italy's best military leaders as a general in the Union Army. But most hilariously of all was Siam, who's King Rama the Fourth offered to send Siamese war elephants to the Union for military or logistical use. Lincoln turned down the offer, stating the American climate would not support them and that we already had the train, but it's still fuckin hilarious regardless.

It was the British that named it that. America gave their tanks code designations but Britain named their tanks after historical figures so when America sold tanks to Britain they named them Sherman to fit the tradition of historical figures while also acknowledging their American origin.

But for fun, since the attack on Fort Sumter was carried out by state militia acting on orders of their duly sworn officers, technically, South Carolina declared war on the Federal government. An action later ratified by the Confederate congress when Lincoln mobilized.

As an American, I can cofirm, this is accurate and the most American thing! Glad to be mentioned by Scorpo, so greetings from the United Steaks! Also, if anyone asks what this event is, this is the American Civil War, where a group of people decided states were better than brotherhood and attacked the forts for being on the side against r@sc!m and both went on the fight for 4 years because Lincoln entered office and wanted America to know that slavery was a bad choice. But after 4 years with Grant taking Vicksburg, Gettysburg, and Atlanta, mostly by Sherman, who had tanks named in his honor, they reached Richmond and Lee surrendered after leaving the city. Lincoln on the other hand, was bonked in Ford's Theater while watching a play because John chose to be a sore loser. That is the story of the American Civil War. 🇺🇸🇺🇲🇺🇸🇺🇲
