It's a shame they demolished Claudia and Leta Street. Used to do my paper round mostly all in that area. I knew someone called Debbie who I think lived in 43 Claudia St.

Nice pictures. We lived off Rice Lane on the other side of the Queens Drive roundabout but I went to school at Alsop Lower from 1975 to 1977 so used to walk up County Road every day. Nice to see the Merry-go-Round toy shop, that was where my mum and dad used to get all our Christmas presents from. Also remember Tony's chippy just a short way down from the Hale Road/Stuart Road junction, their food was the best - chicken omelette, prawn curry half-and-half, fantastic. Went back there in the summer of 2018 after many years living down south and found it quite depressing now.

Lovely to see County Road from my childhood in the 1970s. My Mum, Auntie Do, Nan and Grandad lived in a flat above 'Meeson's'- I have such happy remembrances of my days spent there. The outside lavvie, Nan banging her feet on the stairs to scare away mice before descending for a wee! Does anyone remember 'Ooby-Do's'? A store selling everything from haberdashery to the piggy bank my sister chose for her birthday. They had the cash system where money was woodshed upwards in a brass cylinder (don't know what that was called). Many years later, I had friends who lived off county road and had some fantastic times during the late 80s, too. Thank you so much for uploading this, it's been a delightfully nostalgic time.

I remember Oobidos, Florence. I am just trying to place exactly where it was - was it opposite Alsop Lower School? We lived on Arthur Street off Rice Lane just on the other side of the big roundabout but I was at Alsop Lower from 1975 to 1977 so used to walk along County Road and back most days. I love these nostalgic videos.

In 1968, when we were in the 5th. form, Alsop High School, now and again (money permitting) we used to nip over to the transport cafe (the one shown in the first photo, opposite Walton church) for a ciggy and a cup of tea. `Out of bounds` and smoking, it even made the watery tea taste good!!

Lovely cheers Ed, Buchanan's toy shop, Granada, Azad & Video City we're my days but lovely to see the years beyond. Unfortunately the area has become run down over the recent years and once E.F.C move on from Goodison Park I fear for the entire of County Road. A cracking family The May's originally from Breck Road have been trying to revive certain parts which is nice to see. Thanks for the upload.

A few of my relatives lived off county road, oxton street, neston street, I also drank down there in the 80's....better days then..I remember getting cockles from Charles fish shop and buying records with my mum from creases music shop, Macmillan's wool shop, hunts fruit and veg and Freeman hardy Willis were just a few shops I remember on the road, every Saturday I'd go into barnes for my sweets, they had a great selection....I lived in Everton myself but I remember county road buzzing years ago and a good community, everyone knew each other......better days then not like now, knife crime and shootings are out of hand now....who remembers Mary on the hand cart at the bottom of oxton street.....💖
