Oh my gosh. Thank you for this, good sir!! I tend to carry and use my phone as a crutch for public anxiety and social anxiety. Replacing it with a pocket journal, instead, and writing in it in public, will not only give me an air of sophistication 😎 (I’ve been wondering how to develop that), but will also allow me to write down and get out any negative feelings of anxiety that I’m having in the moment!

Appreciate not only the helpful alternative to wasting time being to produce and stimulate thinking and self-perception, but how you made the video less than two minutes; many due to social media hijacking our attention span find it hard to sit through 10 minute insightful videos, so this makes it easier to reach those who may need it the most.

I try to do that. To explore my ideas, I mean. But the problem is I oftentimes find my own knowledge laking or that I can't find inspiration in my own imagination. So I have to take out my phone and do some research and end up doom scrolling anyway. Any tips to avoid this slippery slope?
@NaphtaliRosenberg6 күн бұрын
Maybe lower the bar on what you deem worthy to write about. Write something as silly as a shopping list or a to do list. Or some feelings. Or just write down the ideas you want to research later in greater depths. Just write anything and worry less about the quality of the writing. Just write to write :)

There are literally an uncountable number of things you can do on your phone that isn’t dooms scrolling. If your doom scrolling, it isn’t the phone’s fault.
@NaphtaliRosenberg7 сағат бұрын
absolutely i am the problem. And this is one of the ways I address it for myself. Amazing that you don't find it distracting!
@flawed16 сағат бұрын
@NaphtaliRosenberg I don’t think that you’re the problem. That is to say that I don’t think the problem is something that’s inherent to your being. An exploration of why you think you doom scroll, and why you find it so irresistible might be helpful. I know that I walked away from Facebook because I found it to be so overwhelmingly negative. I sometimes feel like I might be missing out on interactions with friends and family, but I try to remember that ultimately it’s a choice I’m making and it isn’t because of my phone or Facebook or anything outside of myself
@codruterdei7 күн бұрын
I am exploring this idea as well lately and sorry for singling out this video of yours to complain about this, but I find it incredibly annoying that people who talk about this don't give some real-world examples of how this looks in day to day life. How does your query look when reaching for the notebook? What kind of ideas would work here? If you went to the lengths of making a video about it, especially a short one (since youtube doesn't really give a damn about short landscape videos) it tells me you're at least interested about this subject, therefore I'm sure you posses some knowledge that would help others in this regard. Thank you for reading this. Have a great rest of the day!

Doom scrolling doesn‘t happen if you just don‘t have any app to doom scroll. I mean didn‘t people use facebook and stuff on their laptop? Why do we have to use apps now that follow us everyday everywhere on our phone in bed, while eating, on the toilet? Just use it on the laptop for a certain time frame that you intentionally set yourself or not at all. This changed my life. 2000‘s TV shows inspired me to just see a phone as a phone. For messaging and notes manly, but not for Entertainment.
