I have been through a lot of hurricanes living here in Florida so here's my advice take empty 2 liters and fill them 3/4 full of water and freeze them 😮solid so if you lose power it will keep your freezers cold and go out and buy Power bricks ( the higher the mah-minutes an hour- the better and look for ones you can charge off solar)get USB lights so if you lose power you can plug that in and have emergency lights. Fill the bathtub full of water so you can flush the toilet with the water.

I don't usually give grammar corrections, but "Is alive for a 2nd landfall" Is so much more optimistic/graceful than using past tense (was) for someone who is pretty elderly.

Is anyone preparing for all the homeless people that are living in the tunnels? I suspect there's going to be a lot of bodies down there by the end of this.
@kennixox262
@kennixox262 Жыл бұрын
There is only 1 - 3 inches forecast for the Las Vegas area with the bulk of the rain to the west. Even if it it went over Lake Mead, it would not significantly change the lake level. This not Lake Lanier, just north of Atlanta that would benefit in a tropical storm. To fill lake Mead & Powell, about 7 years of winter snow like this past winter is what really fills the lakes. Idiots here in Las Vegas will inevitably get into flood channels or drive on flooded roads. @@jilbertb

I love how Andy speaks slowly, calmly, and clearly. He's not rushing or erratic. It makes it far more easy to follow along and have time to comprehend what is being said before he moves to the next subject. Thanks Andy. Great discussion of what's happening. I was thankful for the discussion of the wind-sheer south of Florida. We're about 15 miles north (I-45 north) of Galveston and while we desperately need rain, I'm hoping for something less hot that 100 for a few days. It's been brutal here and they are saying the rest of the month will be the same 100 degrees give-or-take into September. I'm really tired of that heat, even with staying inside like I have to do. PLEASE keep us informed about that tropical system you're talking about in the Gulf. Thanks!

Tropical tornados in the Mojave Desert. You don't hear that everyday.
@476233
@476233 Жыл бұрын
Another thing to consider is that the front right part of a hurricane (the part heading to the desert areas) is often the “dirty” part of a tropical system, with the most rain, tornadoes, and strongest winds. I think most of the coast will be ok, but I am very worried about the mountains and deserts. Here in Florida, our ground is very porous and soaks up the water quickly. We also have lots of retention ponds, drainage areas, and sand dunes to protect our coast. I can’t imagine how bad the desert and mountain areas will flood. Please be careful 🙏🏻

Wow! That was a great review! Living in Ventura County, California, I have been watching this storm carefully. I stopped watching broadcast television news and weather years ago due to their over reactions most of the time. I pick my sources carefully so that I can learn the facts and I will not be burdened by the news directors emotions and over-reactions. I simply want the facts. You are one of my "go-to" sources for that. A tornado on the ground in the California desert? While I grew up in Missouri, the only on-the-ground tornado I ever saw was an EF-1 in the Palmdale-Lancaster area where I worked most of my adult life. For the people living in that area, flooding will be their greatest wide spread threat.
