One of the reason a lot of people dislike this movie is with the director of this movie Mamoru Hosoda(notable for wolf children) said something in a interview about how Luffy was the guy who’s only goal is to be a pirate king and nothing else and he would keep going even if his crew leaves and I think this statement rubbed a lot of people in a wrong way considering how we saw him in the later arcs.

I was a crying mess when Nami had that convo with the Muchi guy and the dreaded realization falls upon him and us the audience that they're actually all dead. It shook me more than the end of the movie actually, lol.

When you see the flower on his shoulder still eating, it symbolizes it (the flower) eating the straw hats crew members as they are getting sucked into that giant worm thing...so creepy OP movie.

So yeah. The Baron was the ONLY survivor of that shipwreck and while wrought with despair the Lily gave him an ultimatum "Feed me and I'll give you your friends back" Like...fuck dude. Horror to the MAX. Think of all the folks he fed to that thing to keep just plant copies of his friends alive. And it acts like the Baron dies after that punch to Luffy to. So in the end, the only way to have his friends truly back was to die. Savage shit right there

someone who says nakama isn't friend is full of it. nakama is transliteral one within me, aka those in my inner circle, one important to me, one who went through what we went through together. if you can't define your friends as such then you need to redefine your understanding of the label friend to acquaintance or tool

I kinda like this movie but what I don't like is the Non-Canon-Luffy giving up so fast and believing his crew just died. If he would not have been saved there Baron's arrow might have hit him fatally. But maybe I am also overseeing something here
