Muh - naang - guh - hee - luh yes it's a river in Pittsburgh PA. Very good bottle for $40.

I got a Strawberry fermented taste up front and great sweeter Rye flavors overall. It's a fantastic pour and totally different than any other rye I have had before.

The beginning of this video brings back the old chemistry you two had at the very beginning of IBN… so sweet, absolutely love that you two still have such great chemistry together!

Outstanding rye. For me, it beats Whistle Pig 10 year Small Patch Rye at almost half the price. Enjoying your channel!

As a person born in the 'burgh, it's Ma Non Ga HAY la. Pre-prohibition this was one of the dominant rye styles. One of the identifying characteristics was the complete lack of corn. (ex?) Whiskey Advocate editor and rye historian extraordinaire Sam Komlemic came up with the mash bill. I love what Beam has done with the Old Overholt brand over the last couple of years. They changed the bottled in bond to non-chill filtered, brought out a 114 proof version, an 11 year limited release, a 10 yr old cask strength and now this. Viva la rye!

Mango??? Mango??? I think someone is ready for an island vacation. 😊 I really enjoy this whiskey I usually prefer rye whiskeys, and this is definitely in my wheelhouse!!

I've actually been looking for this bottle recently. Partly out of curiosity but mostly because my 97 year old grandfather grew up in Pennsylvania right on the Monongahela river and I wanted to share a little with him.

If it helps, it's pronounced muh-nong-uh-hay-la. It's an area and river near Pittsburgh PA. Most of the time it gets shortened to the Mon Valley or Mon River. Way easier to say. Haha. Excellent attempt though.

Isn't Monongahela Rye just a specific heirloom/strain of the rye grain?
@Stew_BurnerАй бұрын
It refers to the 80% Rye 20% malted barley mash bill used by distillers in Western PA along the Monongahela River, which became America's whiskey during the Revolutionary War and ultimately helped spark the Whiskey Rebellion after the war.

Am I the only one in the world who knows phonics? I sounded out Monongahela decades ago, and when I finally heard the proper pronunciation I was right. But I have *never* heard someone on a whiskey channel get it right.

It literally hurt to listen to you guys butcher the name from my hometown over and over again. Would it have been so hard to figure out how to say it before making this video?
