A Pair of IBM ThinkPad T41 -

I saved one of these ThinkPads T41 from the e-waste bin and decided to pair them together for this video. I really like these models for playing old games on that don't need a powerful GPU.

Nice one Chris, what a pair! Well done for saving a fine machine from the scrap bin. I have a pair of R50e ThinkPads, very similar but lower spec to those. A worthwhile upgrade is an IDE to M-sata adapter enclosure. They really speed things up!

The T41 holds a special place for me. I used one on a box powered by solar (and battery) years ago before that idea was mainstream. Lenovo liked it so much they sent me a new AIO ($1300 USD value) computer. You can see the setup in the Lenovo One Million Surprise KZbin video.

@@retropcdurham one of these days I'll get a video on that setup. Pro tip. Don't blow a fuse in Forest County Wisconsin. You won't find a replacement up there and the solar setup is a paperweight.

I hate when people throw out working computers. I'm trying to save a PC from my parents who are hell-bent on throwing it out because it runs windows slow. Argh!!! Glad you caught these.

Just thought I would mention that the Thinkpad T4x line has full Windows 98 support, so you can run applications in Real mode on this machine. I don't think it supports SoundBlaster audio, though.

I recently got my hands on a T41. I bought it a AC adapter, because I wanted to fix it up and try it. The keyboard is in very good shape but the rubber surface was sticky. I think I'll put it on the shelf because batteries dead, no IDE HDD, slow... I do use older computers, but only if they are capable of running a modern Linux without slowing me down in my work. Naturally, the T41 does not. I might by a HDD or even a SATA SSD adapter in the future.

An SSD will definitely help out, but even modern Linux is going to be pretty demanding on this generation of CPU

Love those Thinkpads, very business like look. Maybe it's just me but I feel you need to wear a collard shirt and tie to use one. As for games...fire up Space Cadet 3D Pinball that is bundled with Xp.

How lucky you are there, here in indonesia..there is no one throw it to bin 🤣..actually it still have price around 50usd.. I should buy it to make collection old thinkpads.
