If you want to avoid visible paint leaks, when masking, use the base colour again once you’ve finished masking. This will then protect the base layer. Also, you can make your own width of masking tape by putting wider masking tape on a glass plate, using a metal ruler and a sharp knife to cut.

A very timely video as I'm about to complete my own diesel shunter and was interested in how you do the wasp stripes. Very instructive. I too have purchased kits from Nigel Brooks and am very impressed with the quality. His contractors loco "Tiny" was really good and a real challenge to paint.
@GWilliamsonModels2 ай бұрын
Well this is my technique for wasp stripes, and it works for me. I know some use transfers, but I can see that being super fiddly around details etc

Super clip George. Many thanks! 👍 I'm not currently modelling in 009, but this 'ere kit is going on my 'to get' list .... there are so many small but crucial innovations on this print that I REALLY need to rethink my own ambitions. If doors can open on 4mm NG, ain't no excuse for not including them on SG kit! Enjoy your holiday George! All the best ... Howard

More nice work. I was happy when the primer coat went on and I could see all the details in the print. The original white appeared to make that almost impossible, it was overexposing so easily.

A fantastic video as always. I know the almighty algorithm doesn't like the long videos these days but I say make them as long as you want, you can throw in a little phonebook reading in the middle but if you like. Your videos have gotten me really interested in these narrow gauge slate railways. Can you recommend a good resource for more research especially into the time prior to their preservation? So many curiosities, like why so many slate wagons have the number 700. Can't wait for next week.
@GWilliamsonModels2 ай бұрын
Thanks, I try to keep videos around the 10-12 minute mark, mostly because it takes so long to edit them, but really the videos tend to be as long as they need to be to show what I’m making. That’s great if you’ve got a new interest, there’s so many books around. I think I’d start by deciding if there are any railways in particular you’d like to learn about, and go from there!
