I am a 64 y.o. athlete who still races bicycles who had incidences of Afib. My last 2 video describe what I did and how things were after my latest Afib incident.

I was diagnosed with A-fib in 2004. It was intermittent and despite all kinds of tests the dr.s couldn’t figure out what was causing it. I was put on a strong blood thinner. It was so strong that one day after my routine blood test the tiny puncture in my arm started squirting blood uncontrollably. Later, quite by accident, I discovered that my A-fib was happening whenever there was an imbalance between two electrolytes…sodium and potassium. Now I manage that quite well and I rarely have an A-Fib episode. And I’m off the blood thinner.

@@puttingitogether2816 I went into A-Fib one afternoon. I was extremely thirsty and so poured myself a tall glass of low-sodium V-8. While I was drinking it, I was preparing to go to the hospital if the A-Fib continued. But within 10 minutes, I went back into sinus rhythm. I was actually quite shocked. BTW, low-sodium v-8 has less salt and more potassium than regular V-8. This happened several more times and I realized that each time I had had a meal heavy in salt (fast/processed foods). I started going for the V-8 right away and each time I went back into sinus rhythm. I now no longer eat fast or processed foods, I cook everything from scratch, the doctor now gives me a prescription for potassium tablets and I take one per day with 8oz of low sodium V-8. I haven’t had an A-Fib episode for about 3 years. I think, for whatever reason, my body has a hard time hanging on to potassium. I had A-Fib episodes for about 15 years or so. I’m glad it’s under control now. I read somewhere that the body will regulate the ratio between salt and potassium but it has to have enough of both to do this. I don’t know if that’s true but I do know I’m better. I hope this helps. Thanks for asking.

@@pique-nique How did you find a doctor that would listen to you? Who is he? I will travel to see a good doctor. I don't want to take blood thinners or have my heart shocked. Here's my story. At the beginning of the year I got covid. No prior health problems. I didn't get better. Within a few weeks it felt like my heart was racing and my blood pressure got really high. I tried for a few days to get the blood pressure down, etc. and nothing worked. I went to the doctor. Blood tests were run and I was put on lisinopril for bp. Blood work came back I had hyperthyroidism. I went to see an endocrinologist. I researched prior to going and started self treatment which included eliminating gluten and adding supplements (things I had read) and some lifestyle changes, ie walking etc. In eight months I brought my T4 from 10.6 to 1.7. I begged the endocrinologist to let me try lifestyle changes and he agreed (instead of medications), as long as my numbers kept coming down. My heart still didn't feel quite right so, on my own accord, I went to see a cardiologist. The ekg said I had afib. He prescribed blood thinners and said he would run some tests and then do ablation. He wouldn't listen to anything about my medical history and the covid and hyperthyroidism. I want to find a doctor who isn't blood thinner and heart surgery driven. I will try the V8. I found an article called, "The shocking end of my atrial fibrillation". The author started taking "Vitamin B Supreme". I ordered some and took my first one today. The tube doesn't always like links. Its called endatrialfibrillation dot com. Also, who is the doctor that doesn't demand blood thinners? I also bought an alivecor ekg 6lead monitor, its fda approved. I asked the doctor about it prior to buying it to see if he would write me a script for it. He said no, I wouldn't know what to do with it.................. I have a name for this guy. I bought it and there are instructions on youtube. Thanks.

I'm also taking other supplements that I have read studies about and continuing my lifestyle changes. I'm doing what you are doing. Eliminating processed foods. If it comes in a package/box I probably shouldn't eat it.

I have that AFib, my understanding after consulting the doctor is it's a permanent condition you have to live with it, mostly a defibulator (new version of pacemaker) is installed to keep the beats regular,

Strange as it may seem my doctors have never explained my afib symptoms with me or even what afib was. I found out the usual way from Dr Google. I am on medication, the usual stuff. My worst attack happened late at night when my heart rate went totally out of control and sounded like a wee boy trying to play a drum roll. I drove myself to hospital and medication brought it under control. That was the first time I was aware that there was something called afib.😊

I live in Sydney and I faint randomly and everyday get dizzy and almost pass out. I wish there was a doctor or clinic that could help me. I have two kids and a single parent so I couldn't look after them in this state. I also have agoraphobia and anxiety all stemming from this. Not sure what to do.

I encourage you to schedule an appointment with a cardiologist promptly. You are responsiable for your health. This can be treated so that you can enjoy time with your children.

@@resourcefulqueen5109 I did, I have unconfirmed NSVT. I have to get an implant in my chest and seen by a cadiologist that specializes with the electrical system of the heart. I forget their names. My kids were taken away because they said I was an unfit parent, due to my disability. That is another story and one that might go to court over discrimination.

I am still not crystal clear on what exactly did they do except using a 3D state of the art laying it across his heart. Was that it? Can someone with afib tell me please? A doctor I consulted at Washington Hospital Center in DC says he wants to use a long stent and insert it into my upper leg to my heart, and reset it then pull it out. Thats the procedure i was told. Doc also stated nothing will be left inside. 2 to 3 hours long. Its not a 100% chance it will work but its 75% chance it may work.

Hi. And what exactly is the Procedure for AFib I listen to and watch these video's And think that I am tuned into an Angina or Heart Attack Description. I have AFib and take Beta Blockers and Blood Thinners (Apixaban; yes I can hear and see the9 irregularities when I use the Blood Oxygen Meter, Also I get out-of breath all too easily. Quite often I feel as though something has kick started my heart with a thump. No pain not much else. ECG Stress Tests done and CT Scan recently, no results yet. Are my symptoms normal for AF.? Does the Atomic Clock.need to be stopped and restarted or something. CABG x 3 done 5 years ago looking again if that needs more pipe cleaning. Are these things generally present in long-term AF. Other little bits around but interested in the AF scenario, I had never heard of of it before my G P told me that I had it.

Absolutely. And especially if you take an ACE inhibitor such as Lisinoprel, as it works by keeping your potassium levels High! You need extra magnesium to balance the potassium out!! Since adding magnesium I haven't experienced Afib in over a year now.

Doesnt always work for everybody. Studies show no clear benefit to afib episodes with magnesium. I take magnesium daily including highly absorbable form before bed and still have had afib episodes awaking from sleep.

@@mckm5737 Afib can be caused by so many different issues. Evidently being magnesium deficient doesn't pertain to your specific AFib. I'm glad the magnesium helped with mine. Also Mg always relaxes my whole body and nervous system!😊 Here's hoping you can find out just what it is that triggers your Afib. There seems to be quite a bit of evidence that Afib is often times connected to the Vagus nerve from the stomach over-riding the sinus-node signals?🤔
