Get yourself a copy of Michael Freeman's The Bronze Coinage of Great Britain. 2nd hand 2nd edition 1985. Best guide to the subject and what got me hooked on them.

I have a 1855 with G dot error? The dot seems to have gone into the G of REG so only the top dot is visible. I am looking to sell it, I had no takers on a well known website, can send you pictures if you wish?

Nice to see some bun head pennies in such great condition. My recollection is that the 1869 is in fact rarer than the 1864. Certainly Spinks values the '69 higher than either variety of the '64. I'd love to see some of your copper pennies.

I have an 1864, almost Fine. Isn't the 1863 with Die Number under Date the rarest?

@@michaellooney1089 As a variety yes, as a date,no. Die numbers on pennies are very rare. Another very rare variety is an 1882 without the H mint mark.

I dug an 1869 penny up on the clifftops at robin hood's bay in 1979 .unfortunately it is stable but green .I still have it as it was at the time the oldest coin that I,d found .

I have a British 1869 one pennie but it's in bad condition and I have a 1905 one pennie and 1854 Napoleon iii emperer with eagle on the back it was has mint B. I also have collection of 1912, 1916, 1918 , 1936, 2-1941, 1942 and 2-1944 half pennies but I had a coin shop tell me that there not worth anything!

Fine is actually quite a low grade. You want very fine+ or extremely fine

Too much time wasted at the beginning. Should have spent more time showing the coins and talking in the background. Should have explained the condition terminology while showing the coin. In all wasted opportunity to explain the different values.
