The PL-5EII has but two upgrades over the traditional PL-5B/C. The first is the seeker being basically a Magic-2/R-73 copy, which was already covered. What makes the missile more agile was not the extra 5G. The standard PL-5B/C was unable to hit its limit of 30G's in the first place due to fin angle limitations (15.3 degrees). The PL-5EII however, has a bit more fin angle, going from 15.3 degrees to 19.8 degrees, putting its practical agility among the short-range IR's in-line with what you'd expect from a Python 3 (Same max fin angle, just a different body). This missile can actually hit higher G's for once, and will comfortably hit 28-30G in most cases. Solid upgrade, even if it kinda feels like a Magic-2 with less instant pull. Certainly not to be slept on.

It's seeker is more advanced than the r73's as rather than just narrowing its fov, it digital scans the image and can discern between the jets engine and flares. Very similar to how the aam3 works irl and is the same seeker on the ty90

I agree with your final statement of the plane being balanced and NOT overpowered… Everyone’s complaining about another less heard of decent 4th gen aircraft for china but it fits well in its tree, being the first 4th+ gen plus fighter aircraft for china and all it has is good maneuvering not much else..

Haven't unlocked the J-10 yet. However, I found Pl-12s to be the easiest Fox 3s to dodge/counter; regardless of what their stat card says. Were the Pl-12s getting a buff this release? I thought I heard another Tuber mention that. *Edit: I found PL-12s to have a much better hit rate if you keep the 'soft lock", TWS, as long as possible, even after it goes active.

I think your opinion on the PL-12 might be clouded by it's previous sole launching platform, cuz the J-8F has a pretty weak radar, and is kinematically inferior to almost all the other fox-3 carriers

I did a lot of dog fightng on the dev server(flight model was not really changed) and the J10 can beat most jet but it loses to the gripen and the mirage 2000. Also if you did not know the mirage 2000 has by far the best flight model for dogfighting and its not ever really close.The gripen has a better FM for normal gameplay.

Really? IMO I like the old FM which is better for sustained dogfight, current FM is a mix of F-16 and F-5. I'm glad that Mirage 4000 still retain the old Mirage 2000 FM tbh.

I get so many kills of people that my team spots and I HMD lock with my SU-27 or F-15 from 12-18KM away it's not funny. Opens up a whole new kind of low risk high reward play style. Unfortunately it's not a winning one, I get so many three and four kill losses it's not funny

Allegedly the PL-5E-II uses the TY-90's IRCCM. Whatever the IRCCM of the TY-90 is, is what the PL-5E-II should receive. I'm not sure if Gaijin has actually added the TY-90s IRCCM to the PL-5E-II, if anyone knows please let me know.

And btw, from the Mirage 2000 Forum, DirectSupport stated that the current IFOV IRCCM is implemented wrong, the IFOV should've also work before launch, not after launch like in game. This obviously if really implemented, it's pretty much useless to pre flaring.

All IFOV IRCCM Capable Missile is iirc, 0.75. If PL-5EII gets its TY-90 IRCCM, then Magic 2 would also have its mixed Seeker Shutdown and IFOV IRCCM (also a reduced IFOV).
