@nicky9589 Yeah, for me, it hits because all I've ever wanted was for anyone to see me & love me. I grew up with lots of childhood trauma, went through fostercare, and straight into an abusive marriage where I've been trapped for over 15 years. My life has been hell, I have no support system and I'm just wondering if it will ever get better or if this is just how life is. 😭

I'm right there in the same sinking boat as you. Everything in my life that was beautiful always withers and dies. Lost best friends, my soul mate that it took my 34 years to find went through trauma so terrible that it broke here. I don't even recognize her anymore and she doesn't see me anymore. Now I'm 38, alone with nothing and no one sees me at all.

It's a song about wanting to love someone who's been hurt bad, but never being able to meet and talk to the real them inside. You try to relate to them but all you find is the wall they've put up to protect themselves and the broken, barely-functioning person behind it. The sadness in knowing that there's a good person in there who could be a good friend or a lover, but that you won't be able to break them out of that prison on your own without their trust and their own effort. "3 libras" could be a poetic way of saying "3 pounds" -- the approximate weight of an adult human brain.

That you all for making me feel all the feels. I can't wait until my body will produce dopamine again until then I cry for everyone who's loved and wasn't seen or appreciated or lost a love one to addiction or depression. That's the one We expect others to see the world as we do.. we see something SO EASY but.. everyone is doing the best they can with THEIR SUBJECTIVE REALITY We cannot see their circumstances nor how they pattern match the data of this reality. We SHOULD NOT JUDGE The key point about life is.. make choices.. shit happens. BE REAL ! you will get quality feedback.. generally you get out of life what you put in.. if you are good natured you will win in the end.. but randomness is there to obfuscate the obvious... and to ensure that you MUST CHOOSE FOR YOURSELF !! change only comes from within. Sometimes you are just shit out of luck but you will always be best off if you are genuine and dont kid yourself about your EGO.. ego is not good.. it can drive us, but feed it too much and you are heading towards the dark side.. eg corporate scum (but not all corporates are anywhere near pure evil lol.. there is a reason corporations run the world, most ppl are pretty oblivious to lifes lessons!) Noone can MAKE you choose to be mad for example.. there is always a better choice just often we can't see it or are afraid of being "not good enough / a failure".. which is actually illogical.. besides if you could be MADE to choose a certain way.. prohibition anyone ? yeah it doesn't work. Bill & Ted said it best.. whoever wrote the song ! You are right... You are right where you belong.

The first time I heard this song was right after I didn't tell someone how i felt about them.. I was so obvious.. but i thought she either didn't notice.. or wasn't interested. I wanted to tell her how i felt.. but i didn't.. then she was gone.. lost my chance.. she moved away.. then i heard this song.. and felt like my soul died.. so she ended up getting married.. and i wished so bad that was me.. we still talked online.. and i kept that part of me.. that secret to myself.. it ate at me.. i hated myself for years... the years passed 13 years to be exact.. then one day.. had the urge to stop what i was doing.. got on fb refreshed... there she was.. and back in the area too.. i added her right away.. she added me .. we talked.. she was excited to hear from me.. we talked for a while.. all these feelings came rushing back to me.. i found the courage and told her how i felt.. how i still feel.. she told me she felt the same.. and now here we are.. madly in love.. soulmate/twin flame level love.. I just wanted to share that.. take a chance.. don't live a life of regret..

Who I reconnected with over a decade later over his OD/ 3 week hospital stay and his stories about that time. He lived another 5 years with me. Married, step kids, and a child of our own. Until his demons caught up with him. He played this song loud when he couldn’t find words.💔 I come here to remember him.

I’ve never OD’d on opiates but I gave myself alcohol poisoning a handful of times and still deal with stomach problems from my years of drinking. Your comment helps me remember I’m still in this fight for life I can’t ever feel like I’m no longer an addict or an alcoholic I’ll always be that and I have to thank myself and God every day that I stay sober

I'm sure this song has many meanings. For me, it reminds me of a love you would have for someone, that doesn't love you back. You "threw them the obvious", they're oblivious and don't "see you". The song really portraits a heartbreak onto the listener of a deep love that you wanted, wished it could have been, but never will be. "Oh well"

It's a whole Freudian thing, how we long for the whole status of the womb. Keep in mind that's a theory and doesn't necessarily explain our feeling of lack. But, as it goes, you look for that connection in others, you really want them to understand you. You start out in life trapped in all the fallacies of human thinking, namely that physical attractiveness correlates with goodness, intelligence, positive emotional qualities. But an artistic, sensitive person increasingly finds that connection difficult to find, and realistically if we're talking Freud, it's not possible to become a unified whole. So I would say this song seems to be about seeking that connection, looking for another person who makes you feel less alone. And because of human nature, you're seeking out more attractive people, which only leads you to frustration. Then, this is complicated by having fame because people can't see you. They already think they know you, even though they only know your persona. Which is not unlike being attractive, in that people are generally satisfied by your looks and don't even bother to get to know you. So you're struggling with a world where everyone likes you de facto and doesn't even care about your personality, feelings, anything. Which only complicates what is often an endless impossible quest to find a sense of connection with other people in this world.

Neglect. Once you experience it, you tend to recreate it in relationships as an adult. It follows you from childhood and is oddly familiarly comforting, but still so depressing. You want the needs met that you don’t even know you really had, but you want to fill others’ needs for attention and the validation you unknowingly crave. But it’s still the same equation of feeling void and ignored but you can’t pinpoint it. That’s what the song encompasses.

I’ve listened to APC mindlessly for decades, afraid to really look into the meanings of their songs. Slightly afraid that the meaning behind the songs would disappoint me, and slightly because I was afraid that they would mean exactly what I thought they would mean. Both of which might change my perspective of the song - but after going through comment after comment on each song, I can only say that the connection so many other people have to this music draws me closer to it as well. These songs truly speak to me on a level I can’t quite comprehend. I love it.

Hearing this song a few weeks before the album was actually released. There was a magic there. You know, I used to think this song was about an overlooked individual, wanting to be noticed by a person he cared for. But now I think it's about Maynard. He's previously expressed frustration at his fans and how they view him, and his views on music, politics, and philosophy. He feels his messages are misinterpreted. I think that's what this song is about. He's "throwing us the obvious," and rather than "seeing him," we "flew with it" on our backs, using it to confirm our own beliefs by interpreting it how we choose, rather than how it should be interpreted.

All grown now and living their lives. They carry my light. Praise God. I used to sing this song to Cody as I rocked and nursed him. The perfect rocking chair rhythm. My milk flowing down his cheeks as my tears rained down on him. I knew his father did not love me and never would. Is it coincidence Maynard ? how artists some how magically parallel and mirror the lives of the people who look to them, like ravenous dogs, for the emotional energy necessary to forge their way forward in life? They are all so beautiful now, my children. Their lives, so pleasing to the Lord... I love them all so much. Your music bookmarks my life Maynard. Thank you.
