A Perfect Circle has such an elegance to every piece of music they release. I follow anything Maynard works on because his voice somehow fills the void in my life. Often losing my sense of identity and confidence, I never feel more like my true, imperfect self than when I am listening to this band. Now, that is what music should be.

That little harmonizing part at about 3:20 where they layer Maynard's voice on top of itself four times is just fantastic. I usually don't prefer studio tricks that make a song nearly impossible to recreate live (Maynard is good but even he couldn't harmonize with himself live) but that part is so good and built up to so well I can't help but like it.

I feel like MJK’s voice has aged and faded from thirty years ago with Tool. Which is entirely expected. But that’s no insult, more depth and range than we’ve ever seen with this album and Tool’s fear inoculum. I’m completely fine with all of it. Still as Powerful and but with more meaning and maturity. I hope and pray for another album from each, but past an EP I think we’re up poo creek without even a boat or a paddle.

The way the piano notes seem to almost crash into one another is so jarring, and it is such a brilliant musical choice because, to me, it just creates this subtle, but still very much there, uneasiness in the whole tone. I absolutely love this song. It's just so creepy and dark, yet beautiful.
@cazer1946 жыл бұрын
I guess, I'm that type of APC fan that relishes on recalling heavy Mer de Noms, and thus was a bit bittered by the last release. But hell... going through the album song by song I've so acutely and precisely felt that unique APC "warmth" of sound, of all instruments incl. vocals. And suddenly realised that I still like them ) Remembering 13th step... and that song doesn't have to be pounding and stomping to get to your core. Thank you for bringing us light and mellow against dark and candid.

Still not really a huge fan of this album yet. That doesn't mean I'm not a fan of APC. They are still one of my top bands.
@jamesstaggs41605 жыл бұрын
I've listened to Mer about a thousand times and heavy would be the last thing that comes to mind about it. Judith a little bit but none of the rest of it. APC has always been experimental though. People were expecting Tool lite when Mer came out but I think everyone in the band is too inot stretching their musical boundaries to do anything expected of them. This is my favorite one so far because it sounds so different from the rest.

I never thought I would waiver from strictly Tool but even Pusifer is an effin masterpiece. They're all their own bands but one thing you'll never forget, is the masterMIND behind them all. Once an angel voice, always an angel voice. He's a disciplined lyrical genius. Loved him since the day his voice graced me at 3 yrs old eating eggs and bacon watching MTV lol
