Very good suggestions. I agree for dressing for your body type, using a tailor, and breathable fabric and the right color for you. Some things I learned the hard way.

I always smile when I see you in one of your pretty dresses talking about "winter." I guess coming from Hawaii, it feels cold to you, but if you can wear a dress like that without blowing your entire salary on heat, it's not a real winter. ;) (Yes, I am jealous!!)

Hi Melody! Can't agree with your comments on silk, wool (also cashmere) that it's dry clean only. Silk and wool are definitely okay to wash- silk usually in cold on delicate setting with similar clothing and line or lay down to dry! I've done it many times. With wool, you just have to stay away from hard spinning and dryer, I have a sweater setting on my washing machine, you just use a washing liquid with lanoline. Cashmere is usually dry clean only, but you can find plenty companies that offer a hand wash cashmere! I have a few sweaters from cashmere and wool and they are irreplacable for cold weather and work great to keep you warm and not sweat!

Hey Melody, you are a quintessential Winter, not an Autumn. And the colours I always see you wearing are Winter colours ~ black, brilliant (cool) red, white, blue, royal purple, silver, etc ~ the cool jewel tones with bluish undertones, which look stunning on you, btw. Autumn colours are warm earth tones with yellow undertones, such as mustard, orange, deep yellow-greens, warm browns, rusts, etc. Autumns do not look good in black, white, & bright red; Winters shine. Likewise, Winters will look sallow in mustard & yellow-greens; Autumns will look radiant. You are the poster child for the Winter palette; & you intuitively choose your best colours, it seems, as you are always wearing them. You're beautiful!

Thanks for posting about the Kibbe types; I never heard of Kibbe before. I found out that I'm a soft dramatic, and when I looked at the wardrobe suggestions, it explained everything! Yay! Those are my clothes! That's my jewelry! All of my adult life I've had to mail order my clothes or make them, because I live in a small town in the midwest in the middle of farm country, and I've never been able to find clothes that I like locally, or jewelry. At last, I know that I'm on target! Around here, nobody dresses like I do, so I've always felt out of place in the land of high-neck blouses with little Peter Pan collars. (Don't get me wrong; Peter Pan collars are fine for those who want them, but they look ridiculous on me.)

It was from someone in the community who does color analysis. They take classes and charge you for the hour session. But a workaround is to take pictures in the clothes you own, and you'll notice that certain colors make your face glow in the sunlight. You'll also notice the cut of clothes that look good on you will most likely match the Kibbe analysis.

Melody, I love the way you wear your clothing. We you do a wardrobe tour -- modelling your clothes? I know that you showed several dresses in this video, but I'd love to see a more in-depth video, if possible. I'm a Soft Autumn, and I'm not supposed to wear black, but it's such an easy color. I add in olive and mustard (two of my 5-star colors) to give my skin some help against the black. Funny hat you mentioned Kibbe, as a friend of mine swears by his book. I will have to see if the test is online.

May I offer a bit of advice. Enjoy being young and having such a beautiful body to dress. Wear all the fun, sexy, playful, even outrageous outfits you want now while you are young and have the body to afford you the privilege. No matter how well one takes care of her body one will invariably get old one day and not be able to wear such. I'm enjoying this stage of life too but, oh, how this old grandma wishes she could carry off wearing what you are today :-)!

Thank you, Deborah! I find that the Kibbe test works even great for plain T-shirts. Now I know that V-necks or thin straps are for me. Also, I realized early on that a clearly defined waist on a dress won't go well with my body, but now I know why. All this helps me to avoid so many bad purchases, and the color analysis helps me to pick out the right color when T-shirts offer five options. It's so great :) Thank you for being so sweet.

thank you melody, this has been very helpful. I love to binge watch your videos. they are very inspiring and calming and give me good ideas. I have taken 16 personalities test at different times in my life and have gotten intj, intp, and istj. have you always received the same result of do you find you get a different result at different times in your life? Also, it's interesting to think about, but if I were to apply kibbe style to my mind, my mind fits more dramatic or classic style but my body fits romantic styles if you think in terms of left brain vs right brain, hard vs soft, straight vs curvy, thinking vs feeling etc. I think your mind and body are more reflective of each other whereas my left brain, hard, straight, thinking mind is trapped in right brain, soft, curvy, feeling body. do you know what I mean?

Hey, there are people in the community that do color analysis classes, and they have the materials to compare the swatches to your face. I love anything analytical, so it was worth it, but it cost $120. But you can also take pictures in colors that you already own in the sunlight. The colors you look good in will make your face glow and cast less shadows. For instance, mauve cast a lot of shadows on my face, and gold makes my complexion glow.

Mrs. Foley I have a 9 month old. I had a broken foot while I was pregnant and gained 70 pounds I have only lost 40 so far so I totally understand I will tell you one thing for sure no matter what body type you are a maxi dress or a maxiskirt can flatter you. Be sure to parent with a cinch point whether that be a tighter top A belt for decoration, or perhaps if you're trying to hide a belly illusory top with an empire waist if that looks good on you. Without a cinch point you can sometimes end up just looking like a tent in a maxi. But when done correctly it is very easy to dress almost every body type in a maxi

You are either a Spring or a Summer, but probably a Spring with your green eyes. If you look good in cool pastels like powder blue & pink, you are a Summer. If you look good in warm delicate tones like peach, buttercream yellow, & light teal, you are a Spring. Summers look good with light bluish undertones; Springs with light yellow undertones. What matters is the clothes near your face, so black will overpower you but should be fine in jeans or skirts. Good luck!

@MoreMelody7 жыл бұрын
Megan, you have to find someone who does color analysis near you. They hold colors against your body, and then they can tell which group of colors works the best. The booklet comes pre-made: There are ten or so options of color groupings. They don't pick out each color individually, so it's really simple. Another way to do this (and save $100) is to take photos of garments you already have, and then you can tell what color palette looks great on you. The color that looks great on you is one that doesn't draw attention away from your face (competing against it), but one that complements it (makes it glow). I think mine was Bold Autumn or something. The Kibbe test also talks about color on different body shapes.

You can ask at any makeup counter. Yhey know of you are a warm shade or cool shade. From there, it's easy to find out the dif' color pallets online. ...or you can do it your self....do this in day light (near a window) and in artificial light (Lamp)....maybe also in your bathroom. Without makeup...hold something navy or dark blue up near your face. Now try something brown...switch them a few times...u will see which wakes u up and which drains you. Next, try white v. cream. If u look better in navy and white, u are cool tone. If brown and cream are better, you're a warm tone.

Sarah Bella Intj get a bad rap but they are actually extremely caring and have really big hearts. They just have a different way of showing it than what is the norm. As soon as she said she was an INTJ it made so much sense to me and I definitely think she is. Also, why can't an introvert do KZbin? Introverts aren't shy, or dislike people, they just require a lot of alone time.
