My daughter did the same thing. She was 18 and they diagnosed her with Mono. After 4 positive test for Mono the test finally came back as Leukemia. Took her to MD Anderson. Her white count was 226,000 when we got there. She passed the next night. It happened so fast they couldn't get a hold on it . The only symptom she had was a sore throat. My prayers go out to your family. No greater loss than a child. 🙏

I was hospitalized for 3 weeks with mono and I was out of commission for over 3 months. I had a tutor. I had gotten mono, then had problems with my liver because of the mono, then on top of that I got bronchitis and then pneumonia. It was a horrible time in my life and I remember everything hurting, being totally exhausted but not being able to sleep. My prayers and condolences to his family and friends.

@@nathalieverheij2308 mononucleosis is a virus, also called glandular fever or the kissing disease. It's an acute disease that you usually get a fever, swollen glands and an abnormal increase of mononuclear leukocytes or monocytes in your blood. Most people get a mild case with symptoms lasting around 2 weeks but some people like me can get symptoms up to 6 months and complications with it as this poor kid did. I was completely jaundiced for 2 1/2 months because of liver complications. So idk what its called in Dutch but I hope that helps

Mono was bad for me too! I was semi awake at 7am and made it to 3:00 pm, then out like a light. At times, I was comatose like. My friends would come over to say hi, and I couldn't open my eyes. Lasted for 3 months until I got a severe headache for 4 days, with sweats and fever. Then it slowly got better, but it took another 2 months to get back to normal. I was taking vitamins and many showers to wake up. It was pretty rough. My friend went to the hospital with liver issues too. Moral of the story, never share a joint or pipe with someone, cause you don't know germs the other person may have brewing on those lips. Since that time I never shared any food, drink, cigarettes, etc after that. Ever.
@julietteoscaralphanovember2223
@julietteoscaralphanovember2223 2 жыл бұрын
@@craniumlost6439 it was many years ago when I had it, but as soon as I read your description about how you felt, it made me remember very quickly about how bad I felt and how exhausted I was too. And, come to think of it, I probably got it from a passed joint or pipe too. I was a teen back then in the 70's, what can i say?!! So sorry you went through that too. You're probably only the 2nd or 3rd other person I heard had it as bad as we did. Did it effect your liver and spleen? I ended up being jaundiced for over 2 months because it screwed them up.
@craniumlost6439

@@julietteoscaralphanovember2223 OMG, yes I was 14 in 1972 when I got mono and I ended up get my spleen removed years later when I was 23. It took so long to diagnose because doctors never did a platelet count when I first got sick or after. I had bleeding gums and heavy periods but was able to function. I thought this was normal as other girls had the monthly curse. I had bad teeth also, so I assumed that's why my gums bled. Somehow I was able to function until I virtually had no platelets left and was rushed to the ER. 3 months later they took my spleen out and I was fine after that. I actually think I had slight bleeding issues before mono due to a vaccine, and mono just did me in.

I lived alone and I was so weak that I couldn't even walk to my bathroom without running out of breath, I would sit down and then finally crawl my way in there, thank goodness I had a tiny apartment. It was really scary, my mom came over a couple times to make sure I had food and that I would eat a little and keep some fluids down to keep my strength up, but it was so bad. I thought I might lay there and die alone. Luckily I had been a healthy kid prior to that so I got through the worst of it after a few weeks, but it took a couple months after that to feel completely the way I had before I had gotten it.

It caused what good antibodies I did have to attack my system as well. My spleen was 5 times the size of a normal spleen. It nearly ruptured. I spent a month fighting this illness. I lost 30 pounds because I couldn't eat, swallow nor drink anything. I had to take iv fluids. I couldn't breathe. My tonsils and neck were as wide as my face. Make any sense? Mono is commonly spread in athletic teams that share water bottles. Very important to teach kids not to do that.

Tragic. I'm 43 now, but growing up I knew people who didn't make it to their 20th birthday. Sad that some go too soon.

My most deepest condolence for family. Mom and dad, I know the pain of having your son Ill and not being able to do much. My son was severely affected by mono. I though he will not make it, diabetes type 1 don’t make things easy. God give and He takes away. In my case my son overcome but have severe headaches after that incident. Your son was taken, but I pray the God of peace that permit you to enjoy your son, will grant you peace and comfort.
