IMPORTANT INFORMATION GIVEN BELOW - PLEASE READ ON
This stitch along IS NOT a software tutorial however I will show you how to add text to a design like this one if you have got your own software already. I will show you the right way to go about it to ensure a great stitch out, but you will need to find your way around your own software.
I will explain how to add a photo using t-shirt transfer paper to your fabric to create a very unique and delightful birth sampler using Kreative Kiwi's baby feet freebie.
Get the design here:

You will need an embroidery file viewer that will enable you to see your embroidery files and vital file information. I use the Sierra Embroidery plugin myself, use the link below to download it if you haven't got a similar facility on your computer already, it is free and completely non intrusive.

I can’t live without my sharp stabby tool as I call it, is a clay sculpting tool. I bought it in my local craft shop. Amazon do sell them as part of a clay sculpting set but not individually.
All my other supplies are from Amazon including my large squizzors. They are actually aquarium precision pinch action scissors.
I use H2O gone FSL water soluble stabilizer or Brothread cut away stabilizer for my stitch outs.
Happy stitching!

Hi Lizzie I bought a box of mixed sizes on Amazon I use the biggest ones that are about 2 inches or 5.00 cm to hoop with but you can use any pins with a head on them.

Hi Kay. Another great video. May I ask why do you place 2 layers of wash away down.. Tracey
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 4 жыл бұрын
The most important thing you can do to create beautiful stitch outs that look good and keep their shape, is to lay good foundations and that is your stabilizer. Its job isn't just to hold everything on the hoop it plays an important roll of preventing your fabric and stitches from moving none more so than satin stitch as it pulls and pushes your fabric. You use two layers so that it is strong and also prevents your fabric and stitching from moving out of place. If you want to save money do so by buying cheaper fabrics rather than skimping on stabilizer. If your stabilizer fails to do its job it is not only a waste of stabilizer but batting, fabric, thread, everything else you use. If you stitch a particular design with an embroidered edge, one with one layer of WSS and then again with two, then look at the satin stitch border of both. The one with a single layer of WSS will be rounded and narrower than the other, where it has pulled in and the other will be nice and flat and look neater because the 2 layers of stabilizer will have done their job properly and stopped the stitching from distorting. Try it and see for yourself. I hope this helps.

what software do you use please, it looks so simple... i know its the Sierra Embroidery plugin
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 3 жыл бұрын
The sierra plugin only allows you to see embroidery file thumnails when you are in a window as if it were a regular file such as a JPEG it isn't digitizing software. You can find lots of small software packages quite cheaply to add text. I promise you that you wouldnt want the bill for mine as it cost 1000's.

Thanks Kay for a great tutorial as usual what program are you using for the foot I haven’t got one as it looks really easy to use
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Rita It doesn't matter which software you like the look of, the deciding factor will come down to your budget and what you want to do with it. High end professional software will carries a very heavy price tag and one for the home market will be much kinder on your pocket and will still do what you want it to. It is knowing what you want to do and how to achieve it that gives good results. Hours and hours of learning, practice and knowledge of your software, tools and materials make it look easy not the look of the work space environment. Might I suggest that you look at the info contained in this link below and compare various software what it does and doesn't do and of course how much it costs. Many companies give you a months free trial so you can download them and play until you find one that suits you, then make your choice as embroidery software is an investment. sewingland.org/best-embroidery-software/

Kays Cutz Thankyou for you help I’ve got a Janome 500e and the program that came with it doesn’t do much so I’m looking at another that does what yours did is yours the embriliance looks easy to use ,
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 4 жыл бұрын
Embrilliance is lovely software and it does beautiful text too. Like I said earlier, download trial versions of various software and play with them and see which one(s) you like the feel of most. All software is easy to use if you take the time to learn and practice. Embroidery is not a case of easy to use software, it is learning how to put a design together properly, making sure it stitches nicely, that colours stop where they should, stitches run the right way and in the right order. Learning use the tools within it efficiently to make them work for you. I would suggest you download a trial of something and then find You Tube tutorials on that software to learn how to use it and then practice practice practice. I cant stress enough that it does take time and patience, be it home use software or professional. Just as you wouldn't expect to walk into a carpenters workshop, pick up a piece of wood and a saw, cut it in half and then expect to be a master carpenter, the same applies for digitizing. I would suggest that you make friends with something user friendly like Embrilliance, it will do everything you want it to and the best bit is you can always buy extra elements of it as you progress and get more experience and proficient and want more features. As I said before software is a long term investment. I hope this helps and most of all have fun.

how do you put in on a pillow (like a reading pillow)
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 4 жыл бұрын
You would make it and then stitch it in place Inez. I usually use the same embroidery thread as the edge in my sewing machine and stitch it alone the inside edge where the embroidery meets the fabric.

Wonder if you know what size our picture should be to cover the foot area for the 5x7 and the 6x10?
@KaysCutz
@KaysCutz 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Dianne sorry not a question I can answer as a lot depends on the photo and it composition that you want to use. I would suggest your stitch out colour 2 onto some wash away stabilizer and use it to work out if your photo will work with the size you want to stitch out.
