Thank you! Going to visit soon. a lot of people online were saying there is not much second hand stuff in camera street anymore, glad to know there actually is!

A very nice selection of shops; all different shopping experiences, but the same level of temptation. Enjoy the traveling and the mild humidity. 😎

Thank you! Saving this for next time I'm in Taipei. Last time I was there I couldn't find much since there's not a lot of English guides. Another shop worth checking out is the Wotancraft flagship store - no cameras but lots of bags, straps, etc in a cool space and friendly staff.

I know right?! I really loved how that first store I visited just set up a table outside the store for people to sit and chitchat. The whole district was so cool to check out. They also had restaurants and cafes in case if you get tired or hungry, you could chill for a bit before hitting up the rest of the stores 😆

One Taipei shop that always stood out to me that you were unable to visit is Shueido Camera. I'm not sure about their current inventory or sourcing, but when I lived in Taipei they sold used cameras in mint condition, often sourced from Japan. And at reasonable prices. They also sell new gear, and I still recall that's where I bought my most-used lens to this day, my prized and trusty Nikkor 70-200 f2.8 VRII. One thing that may impact the brick and mortar shop these days is that they do a lot of international sales via their eBay shop, which features some really lovely used gear.

Omg yes! I've definitely visited Shueido Camera. In fact, I got my M6 redone by them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qGTcl52Gr86dmLM I made it a point to ask every shop I walked into if they also sell part of their inventory online and surprisingly, quite a few of them actually don't 😮 or they would list their gear on some local Taiwanese site. Too bad, I wanted to help promote their online stores.

I spent many many wonderful hours and trips at Taipei Camera Street 台北相機街. They're businesses out to make a profit, but I always felt well treated there, although I usually knew what I wanted before going there and didn't seek advice. Fun fact: many of the stores are owned by the same family. I found out by going to one shop, where I would ask for something in particular, and they'd tell me to wait a minute. Sometimes they'd make a phone call, and others they'd just go outside and down the street. Because what they were doing was grabbing inventory from a store with a different name and perhaps vibe, but owned by the same family.

Omg! 😮 No way! That's so interesting! Must be a loaded family then... to own a few blocks of camera stores 😆 Thanks for sharing! So interesting 😊

@@NoctiGirl Based on my observations I'd guess that about four families own most of the shops, plus the ones that only own one. My favorite was Yuli 宇利, simply because they stocked a lot of film.

@@NoctiGirl It sure is! I'm enjoying it a lot here though. I think I'm pretty used to the heat. My grandfather has a bit of a Leica collection and has a whole bunch of Summicrons of different vintages and a few thread mount lenses. I'm mostly a Nikon girl so I've never really used a Leica before. I have vintage (and modern) Nikon stuff instead. I might try a Leica Summicron on my Nikon sometime and see what it does. We'll see! I do have the mount adapters already
@NoctiGirl

That’s great!! You should definitely take advantage of your grandpa’s collection and try out the lenses if you already have the adaptors!! Nikon is also a great brand with fantastic cameras and lenses. Before Leica I shot Canon - loved my cameras and lenses. Until I experienced early mid-life crisis and sold everything for Leica 😂 Are you on IG or FB?! I need you in my life 🥹
