Juno did well today! and of course the other dogs and the mink as well. Beautiful back yard and a nice coop - hopefully the lady will have a strategy with feeding the chickens so she doesn't have this problem again. Thanks Joe! & Maggie!

I’ve got a rat in my garden, it keep burrowing all over, it’s also brazen, it sits on the garden wall watching us and strolls around like it owns the place. We have put traps down with peanut butter and chocolate but the damn thing just laughs at them, it’s scared of nothing!

Brilliant video and the dogs work Brilliant well done 👏👍👍
@waty0usay111 сағат бұрын
Just wanted to clarify that the rats had nothing to do with how uncared for the previous property was. I've had and still have relatives who have filled their yards to the brim with junk, one particular relative has hundreds of tons of scrap metal that has been sitting around rusting for 30 years and he keeps collecting more.
@JosephCartertheMinkMan11 сағат бұрын
Yep! You are 100% right! I've hunted LOTS of junk yards like you are describing, catching all kinds of ground squirrels and rabbits hiding in the debris, but never seeing a single rat. Yet you can have a perfectly manicured yard with a bird feeder in it, and attract a seemingly endless supply of rats! Or an endless supply of junk, without a single rat in it.

With the dogs being so quick to chomp, do they ever snag a mink coming out of the holes?
@JosephCartertheMinkMan8 сағат бұрын
Nope. They know what's coming out of the hole long before we do!

I also have a rat problem. Can such a wonderful Mink be kept permanently as a “pet” for the yard and barn? Does he get along with cats?
@JosephCartertheMinkMan8 сағат бұрын
No, they will just end up running away. The travel too much, and aren't domesticated like cats are.

What was the largest rat your animals killed weight wise ?
@JosephCartertheMinkMan11 сағат бұрын
The largest I've ever weighed was 560 grams(1.2 lbs), if I remember correctly. The largest I've ever heard of was like 650 grams (1.4lbs), or something like that. If you read online they give the world record as 822 grams (1.8 lbs). I've killed several thousand rats in a good year, and yet I've never seen anything close to that. Anyone who claims to have seen a rat 2 lbs or larger is likely just guessing the weight as it doesn't seem possible for them to reach 2 lbs. In comparison, adult muskrats range from 850-1,100 grams (1.9-2.4 lbs)on average. The largest muskrat I remember weighing was 1,360 grams (3 lbs), but I've heard claims of 4 or 5 lbs muskrats coming from states where they get much larger than they do where I live.

@JosephCartertheMinkMan i understand the work it goes into it, its not necesary but fun if its there to see. And is it me or this video much higher bitrate? Looks way cleaner.
