You can tell he was writing this stuff around the same time they'd have been writing Knower Forever, this track feels like the direct relative of Its All Nothing Until It's Everything. Louis is already a musical idol that so many are yet to discover. Swimming in his musical talent is personally keeping me and no doubt many others sane in this batshit crazy world.

@jackcurley15914 ай бұрын
Agree with both comments above. I personally think this is the culmination of the musical direction that Louis has been heading the last few years… absolute insanity from the harmony, orchestration, density of sound, drumming, songwriting, everything…. Pure genius
@gdfauxtrot4 ай бұрын
I was gonna say this track has some inspiration from Clown Core - the drum pattern and kick-synced keyboard notes fits right at home on that project, this track in particular feels very much like Computers. But there's so much more going on here, I'm all for it. I started off as a simple Clown Core enjoyer, and ended up being a Louis Cole fan for life.

As a few have noted, the original drafts of this piece were called "Metal." You can see it on the sheet music 0:56. Louis Cole cracked the code. You can see it in everyone's face as they perform this piece. Jules Buckley and the Metropole Orkest are sublime. Rai Thistlethwayt is ill beyond words and just stays in tight focused pocket. Peak Louis Cole composition. It has everything.

@@chrispysaid well you see if we ask the question of what 100*(1-alpha)% of the set of all possible sample means may equal the population sample mu, and we follow from the Empirical Rule, then we may suppose there exists some number p such that p times the error corresponds to this percentage, where the sample error obviously is sigma/sqrt(n) for sample size n ... then we consider that for some lower bound in the error margin alpha, the number (1-alpha) would be the complement, indicating that the area under the approximately normal curve is given by the z-score of plus or minus (alpha/2), then that z-score is our multiplier to our error such that our percentage is, for a Riemann sum critical point function z(): z(alpha/2)*(sigma/sqrt(n)). In the sea of jazz and pop music this is truly a unique song and album. I don't even know what genre this is, but I call it - magic.
@@blivion7203 eh who cares about genre, right? Orchestral? Yeah, there's an orchestra after all. Jazz? To some extent, in terms of music theory and the centerpiece of a Jazzy solo. Electronica? I'm not so sure about that. Maybe. Insofar as anything involving synths would be considered as such. Metal? Probably yeah, in terms of where it draws its inspiration, and the piece was originally named as such. Maybe Symphonic Jazz Metal is fair enough? Idk. I'm drunk. Have a good night, I love you.

So I’ve listened to this track prolly ~200 or so times, when a whole concert (different night of this run) was on the NPO website the last two years. This version is even better, and only on hearing the outro on this mix, which I assume is the isolated horn section part, was I able to fully appreciate the beautiful and syncopation of that part. Which is kind of blowing my mind-there is just so much going on (in the absolutely best way possible) that it is hard to take it all in at once, so it is super cool to get these little studio-remix interlude/ seque bits. Not sure I’ve ever heard a live album do that, and it works so well as a cohesive seamless masterpiece of an album.
