excellent video ! today's bridge was slid into place in 1990. it was constructed beside the old metal bridge, which was eventually removed and the new one slid over (slide took just a few hours) so as to minimize disruption to downtown businesses. this was the first slide of a bridge of this scale in north america. this is why the concrete supports are double the width of the bridge.
