Exactly. I've seen people say that Xavi is a clueless manager with no experience. Xavi did great things with Al-Sadd and even turned down being Barca manager before, because he knew he wasn't ready. So I trust him too. His passion for the game and for Barca, he'll do everything to make sure that Barca is successful. @@tjkim1999 Frenkie can play as CDM but he can't do what Busquets does. I think replacing Busi will be almost as hard as replacing Messi. He's the heart of team, and is the best in the history in his own role, a role which is important for Barcelona's style of play. Imagine if he was fast and could shoot from distance, not even Russian labs can produce such a player.

@@Alex-rv7ec Frenkie can't play as a CDM. He's a ball carrier first and a ball progressor second. Don't get me wrong, he's an absolutely phenomenal player, but he is not a CDM, and maybe even more importantly, we take away his strengths - limit him severely, by trying to play him as a CDM. Either that, or we get exposed even more at the back. People like to say he played as a double pivot at CDM at Ajax but the reality is that they played with two CMs behind an attacking mid. The difference between the two is, if you can imagine, like playing Xavi and Busi in a double pivot vs playing Xavi and Iniesta as a double pivot. Or Xavi and Thiago or Iniesta and Roberto if we want to really accentuate the problem. The thing most Barca fans don't understand, and didn't even back in the glory days, was that Xavi often played as deep as Busi during buildup and would transition higher up the pitch to support the attack usually only once the ball was in the opposition third or box to support the attack. This leaves one player occupying the midfield space along with defenders who can also step up to recover any cleared balls. Take Busi out and you've got one player who is occupying the midfield space well enough in Xavi, but will leave us totally exposed on a counterattack if we lose the ball deep in the opposition third - as he has moved forward to support the attack. And the other player, Iniesta, often driving with the ball or roaming further up the pitch and into wider areas to support the wings/flanks. Sure, this can be an extremely effective attacking option, but it's unbalanced. The attacking benefit is outweighed by the type of clear cut chances that are generated against us on the counter, because there's now a gaping hole in midfield between the defenders and the players supporting the attack. This can also break down buildup because of a lack of a linking player, leaving defenders to be passing between one another and to easily crowded out flank players (Alba/Dest/Alves). We've seen this happen since the Valverde days. You take out Xavi and put in Roberto and now you have two primary ball carriers/secondary ball progressors (if you can even call Roberto a ball progressor tbh) and you're exposed, even during buildup, to counterattacks. A further issue of playing Frenkie in this role is that, while he has great vision, he doesn't actually go for those passes when under pressure. He makes what is often the second best pass. Back to a defender who is easily pressured, sideways to Busi who's marked heavily. Instead of to the mobile midfielder who's come back to support, and thus lost his marker. He is better at being unlocked and using his own movement to find space *and then* looking for that pass that we all know he's capable of. Higher up the pitch.
