Sorry to hear MC! This sounds like Canada Customs. I’ve had knives from Urban EDC take over 6 weeks to get processed through Vancouver on the way to Toronto. Always a huge stressfest, but the knife always arrived. US Customs has a better reputation, but for something released in early March…. I wouldn’t expect to see anything before late April. I bought a rare slip joint from a seller in Canada. It sat at the Chicago distribution center for over 3 weeks. I order something from China that sat in Cali for almost 4 weeks. Sometimes they just move super slow. I hope it shows up. Thanks for the story.

MC. Chicago Customs aka the Great Black Hole of the USPS, takes forever to process incoming packages. Just because your package has "cleared Customs " does not mean it has actually left Chicago. Just means that your package was not returned. It still has about 100 more departments to travel through before it moves to the next location. I have had packages come from Canada and sit in Chicago for 4-6 weeks before they start moving again. Hope this helps.

I hate UPS...absolutely hate them now. it wasn't always that way. But about 10 years ago, they began to tell me that my address doesn't exist. The address I have been at for decades no longer exists. The address that gets mail every day. The address they used to ships to unerringly. Now it doesn't exist in their tracking system. There was a time when they failed to deliver 11 times in a row. Right now, they are 7 for 20. Each time I order, in the special instructions dialogue box, I say please, please do NOT use USP. But retails still use UPS. I have a fixed blade coming in from Blade HQ at the moment, and when I saw they used UPS, I can't help but feel the stress.

Ditto! I live in Virginia and ordered from blade HQ recently and they're based here in VA. My order shipped out and said 2 days. I checked the day after and for some reason it made its way to a facility in DETROIT?!? Took about a week and a half to get to me. At one point I was sure I wasn't getting my package......

@lonetrader1 - oh God. My personal favorite was when I ordered from Blade HQ and followed the tracking every day through Out for Delivery. It didn't come. Their tracking was black for a day or 2 and then said Arrived in Memphis Tennessee. So somebody had to handle and look at the package and think to themselves, Washington? I am sure they meant Tennessee. UPS means to me: unprofessionally stupid.

God my heart sank when I saw where the second story was going, I immediately thought “oh no, it’s the bastion knife” shit with customs can def take a while. I order stuff off Aliexpress all the time, and I’m in Maine, and I’ll wait 4-6 weeks all the time, sometimes the majority of that time it might say “item released to local post office” but it takes 3-4 weeks from then; because I don’t think it’s actually local yet. Just that it’s been authorized. I’d say it’s sitting in Chicago. Im rooting for you

I sent a custom knife back to the maker for refurbishing and when they sent it back it got lost in USPS. It randomly showed up on my doorstep 2 weeks later. I’m glad because it was irreplaceable.

I can relate to this experience. I won a Mini Buster from Beez last month. I'm fairly new to knife collecting and this was going to be my first expensive knife. The parcel has been moving smoothly for the first 5 days until it had reached Tokyo (on its way to Manila). It is stuck there for 18 days and counting. I've researched online and similar experiences says it can be held there up to 60 days. Honestly, the value of the knife is not that important. It is the fact that It was something I won from Beez that makes it valuable to me. The moment I won gave me the sense of, wow I'm really part of the knife community. It is such a helpless feeling that all you can do is wait. Hope you receive your soon MC.

I'm sure you will get your knife eventually man. I have had similar experiences where knives that travel between many countries sometimes get stuck in a country during sorting (for one reason or another). I remember having a knife stuck in Malaysia (if I remember correctly) for about a month, but it eventually got back on track and arrived shortly after. If a package gets stuck at a sorting center for more than 2 weeks, it can be a good idea to contact the main shipping carrier and they will usually figure out what the hold up is and get the package on its way again. It can be really frustrating waiting on a package that is stuck, just know that you will probably get your package soon. Good luck man :)

I remember when my Norseman came from Grimsmo in Canada, it came through so fast and actually had it delivered on a Sunday by USPS. The person delivering wasn't even driving a postal truck. I really hope it's just stuck there and is alright. 🙏 🤞

I ordered a Medford Praetorian from Arizona Custom Knives. I bought a Spyderco Techno and lost it. I recently had two knives stolen from me when I got assaulted by 3 people. My fear when one of my knives is lost or stolen is that the thief, or person who finds the knife will not take of the knife. The individual will not know how to take care of the knife. I have old knives in my collection and they look just like brand new knives. My knives are alway well maintained. Awesome content, thank you

I can relate. I once shipped a tuba from Nebraska to North Carolina (a personal instrument that I had sold) and it disappeared in the system for three weeks. No one could tell me where it was (it reached a hub in St Louis or KC and then vanished). I was panicking because it was valued at nearly $10k and of course the courier didn’t offer insurance anywhere near that amount. Luckily it magically appeared and was successfully delivered without further incident. On a knife-related theft topic, I was preparing to move about 25 years ago, car packed, and someone broke into my car and took everything, including my knife collection. In that collection were irreplaceable gifts from friends. I’ve never understood the mentality that drives people to say “that belongs to someone else but I’ll just take it.”

Yep mail service can be a nightmare. Luckily you haven’t had many issues. I on the other hand must have the most incompetent usps employees around because in the last year alone I have had at least 5-10 packages that were either lost or said “delivered” with no package delivered to me and delivered to the wrong house. I have had multiple packages brought to me by other people saying “this was delivered to my house” I mean wow the usps in my area has been going downhill for the last year or so now to the point I hate when I order anything and see the person or company used usps as the form of delivery. Ups, fed ex and Amazon however are wonderful. At least for my area and my experience with them. But usps has been nothing short of a nightmare. 😞

First thanks for sharing. Seriously, I am pretty sure anyone that is into the knife community has had to send and or receive knives. I have had my mishaps, not delivered etc. And to make a point I also collect flashlights, the vast majority of which are purchased overseas and I have horror stories about receiving / not receiving them. So I most certainly can empathize with the tension involved. You are a good dude and well known in the community I am sure I echo everyone when I say, I truly hope your knife arrives undamaged and in a reasonable time. Take care and peace be with you.

Canadian here, I've had CSBA confiscate a blacked out pm2 in 20cv that I ordered from DLT trading last year. I was told it's a prohibited weapon..... 😞 I haven't purchased a knife from over the border since.

Relax bro. I had 2 orders from the US. First one took about a week to get to customs here, then another month or so until they sorted it. The second took about 4 days to get here, been in customs for like 2 days. I don't expect to get it this week haha

I only have personal experience with customs with one item. I needed an external shift solenoid for a Dodge Dard DCT that got damaged during a clutch replacement at my shop. Chrysler only sold the thing with the entire hydraulic shift actuator for over $2,000 but I managed to find a company in Germany that sold the solenoid by itself, total with shipping of under $100. Granted this was during COVID but that little package sat at the NYC customs for over 3 months before continuing on to us. I was convinced it was lost.

This exact same thing happened to me a month ago, i ordered a custom Herman knife and it got stuck in customs for 3 almost four weeks and it just kept saying that it was going through customs and getting cleared over and over. Eventually in that third week they contacted me to verify that the package was being sent to the correct person and of course had to pay for having it shipped overseas. Hopefully they contact you soon because apparently it's just that they are pretty busy but the system just keeps updating even if the package is not moving and after that you should be good and receive it in a day or two.

I finally got it Thursday and it was shipped at the end of February. I think it's just a little early to fret, but I totally relate to the feeling.

In my experience customs is usually a 1-2 week minimum delay, and you can’t trust any of the “updates” at customs until it shows it departed customs facility

I hope you get your Bastion. I had a ProTech Malibu stolen at the local UPS warehouse. The tracking led to there and then boom it was gone. It of course was the only one the dealer had. I didn’t lose my money but to this day I have not found one like it to buy.

Not nearly worth the same but it took 2 months for my CRKT Pilar 3 to go from Massachusetts to Illinois. After a 3 week gap in updates where my package went from MA, to NH, back through MA and stopped in NJ I decided to call them up and visit my local post office. They said the only thing to do was file a claim and after a month of that nonsense I had to actually describe the entirety of the package and it was finally found and sent along. Hopefully things work out for you dude, but after a knife making friend of mine said she'll never use USPS and ships all of her stuff through FedEx I think I'll be using them in the future lol.

Every single thing that I have ordered that was sent with UPS was dealyed. I'm in California. I ordered a guitar that was delayed for almost 2 weeks. My phone was sent to me with UPS and it was overnighted. It took almost 2 weeks to get to me. I have other stories about UPS for multiple addresses and my experience has never been good.

I have shipped many knives & ordered many knives through USPS. When talking to the postal workers on the phone, I've generally been told not to worry much until the package hasn't arrived within a few weeks (especially around the holidays). They said basically if you've reached the three-week mark, it's time to consider a claim. Today is 3/19/2023, so it's been 17 days since it was shipped. So, I don't think I would worry much until the end of this coming week. Another important point is that you mentioned customs. From where did the knife originally ship? Was it international? Because if so, that definitely extends the maximum reasonable wait time by a significant margin. At least a couple weeks more than domestic, especially through a hub as busy as Chicago. Now, this is only what I've experienced shipping & receiving about 350 knives, & my information might not be exactly right for all locations, since it's a sample size of one person living in central Ohio. But I just wanted to give you some insight into what I've been told by USPS in the past, & how things have gone for me personally. I really hope you get your knife soon, & I look forward to seeing it on the channel! 😀

Here is the thing about US customs. I've had things that show released from Customs but weren't actually released. Everyone, please never ship USPS. I ship hundreds of items a year, and I've never had a problem with UPS or FedEx, but I've had so many problems with USPS! The USPS tracking system is crap. If a package is lost, damaged, or anything happens to it, then they don't care to even look for it. Always ship UPS or FedEx because their tracking system is much better, and their employees will actually look for packages. If you are shipping anything expensive like a knife, then pay the extra money it costs to ship UPS or FedEx it's well worth it.

Unless it's ground and within the 1 day delivery range from me, it's literally a roll of the dice when/if they'll actually get me my package. The only problem I've ever had with USPS was when a $2 balisong trainer I ordered as a joke gift never came, just the empty shredded box in one of their "were sorry we suck" bags. I send/receive hundreds of packages a _month._

I had a package get lost from the UK and then replaced by the business that sent it, and then almost a year later, it showed up randomly out of nowhere, and now I've got double of everything I ordered 😂. I have only ever bought one knife from the us, as I am a resident of canada. It was the MBK Rosalinda and after about a month and a half I contacted USPS to see what was the holdup. They said that they couldn't find it and the tracking said that it was still in the town that it was shipped from. They had MBK contact them for additional information and the knife was completely lost. And after that, it was a complete nightmare dealing with MBK trying to get another one shipped out, as I would go weeks without getting any responses from him and I eventually just asked for a refund because I was sick of dealing with them and getting no response and I finally got the refund recently. That is my only experience dealing with USPS and MBK and the service was horrible on both ends

Just had one that showed tracking as "Delivered to Individual"... what the hell? I don't have it, who has it, wait.. it's like 3000 miles from where it was supposed to end up. The good news is that I just got it today ( 1 week later). Incorrect tracking, or somebody actually did the right thing. Seller was bummed as it was the only one he had, EMP Nymble Aluminum Carbon Fiber Topo scales. Never would have been able to replace that I think.

I had purchased a GEC #25 knife on Ebay. The knife was a limited edition beautiful blue cow bone. The Post Office swore that they delivered the knife to my house. I filed a claim with the post Office. They swore that they made the delivery. So they didn’t pay me. I filed a claim with Ebay. eBay took the side of the Post Office. So I lost 500.00$

I just made my first purchase from Urban EDC Supply, it was supposed to be a full size Chavez 229 drop point, they had it listed as the big one but they sent me the smaller street version, admittedly the price was listed as $345.00 but I kept checking the description even as it was being shipped and it was for the full size so when I got it I told them I wanted to return it for the one I wanted and would obviously pay the difference but they didn't have it in stock so they emailed me a return label but I don't have a computer or printer to print it out so I have to figure that out then wait a week for it to get back to them and then I have to wait another 3 to 5 days after they receive it to reimburse me, I get these things happen but that's a lot of money for me and now I have to wait all that time to get the money back before I can find something else I want, I'm super frustrated, sorry everyone I just needed to rant

Dont want to scare you MC, but USPS is horrible with their claims system. I sent a ZT back to SMKW, had insurance on it, the box showed up there empty. Filed a claim, had a hard time getting anyone, finally got things going and they denied my claim twice, 300 bucks down the drain. Very helpless feeling. Hope it doesnt happen to you.

Guarantee you, there are many expensive items being shipped around the world every day, much more valuable than the blade and it arrives every time, except extremely rare situations like the plane crashing or something like that.
