Disguise the trap with non-edible dirt or peat-moss or potting soil, not food, that way your not feeding the rats, only killing them.

Just a thought, why not wear latex gloves when handling the traps so that you don't get your sent on it? I think that the rats and mice might be able to smell your sent on the trap.

I can tell you that they don't. I once lived in a condemned house. Most of the rats did leave the room I slept in, but you could still hear them scurry around at times, even in my room. Once, I had a bag of garbage that was near me that had avacado skins from the avacado I ate that day. One particular rat kept me up all night being persistent to rummage through the bag. I would wake up, it would scurry away. I would lay down, and it would rummage through again. It kept setting off this one particular trap as well that I had near by, I was using the avacado as bait. It was a rather clever rat. Finally, I set some avacado shell deep within the black trap, and finally got that rat! It was huge.

You should wash your hands soap, wear gloves and wash your gloves with soap. But in Shawn's case some of those mice and rats are quite bold. There's also other factors like presenting feeding grounds etc...

Don’t you have chickens? You might want to be wary of that fox. I had a huge problem with a red fox killing my chickens last year. It was coming in the middle of the day and killed a dozen or so before I finally caught it.

Funny, you'll see Reds during the day a lot more than Greys. Greys stay in thick cover though. I'm a pretty good Fox trapper myself, how'd you get the Red?

The writing on the trap says, "Nezumi tori." or "Rat/mouse catch." Both rat and mouse are called nezumi. They add a prefix for "small" or "large" to differentiate.

I worked at a wheat mill and learned that a large bucket with wheat in it will lure in and trap huge amounts of mice. Put it somewhere below a ledge so they go in but they can't get out. Even if there's dead mice inside they kept coming in. One Monday we came in to find 17 mice in one bucket. As soon as you approach the bucket they begin jumping up the sides but to no avail. These small mice could only jump about 6-8" max but the bucket was about 14" inches. We must have caught 100 mice in a month.

Hey Shawn, just wanted to let you know, the trail camera's have a high pitch frequency that plays in the background. It probably runs about 15,000 hertz. You very likely can't hear it, but its a bit hard to bare for those that can hear it. I'm not sure if you are able to remove the sound but I would greatly appreciate it. If not i will continue muting it myself. Thanks!

i had a rlly good idea for a mouse trap so it captures the mouse and stores it in a small compartment and covers the smell somehow so it can catch multiple mice and the mice cant smell the dead mice :O

It took me a minute to figure it out, but I think I figured out the text written on the trap. The name of the mouse trap appears to be. "Mouse Catching Time." and the other 4 characters seem to say registered trademark. The weird thing is that the kanji for "Time" is right in between the words "Registration" and "Trademark" but then they have the little up arrow and box around it, which confused the hell out of me for longer that I'd like to admit.

In the past, I have baited traps to lure animals in and get them used to feeding on/in trap before setting it. After they feel secure, I set the trap and BAAM! catch varmit..

It's actually called "Nezumi Tori" which literally means "take the mouse/mice" (they don't have plurals in Japanese/plurals are implied. What's weird is that they wrote it in Katakana, even tho it's a native term. Katakana is an alphabet used for loan words, and foreign words.

Large spring traps should be mounted on a LARGER BOARD so the rat can't take off W/TRAP. Believe it or not,we found the trap 40 yards from the house.. it fell out of the SOFFIT VENT!

I love the wildlife feeding bonus. Do u know what species of hawk it is? Also I trap brown rats with Fenn traps in the UK. Placed in a tunnel the rats don't seem to mind (until they walk on it).
