Honestly this expansion feels so weird. You have cash cow into mage getting the tourist. You have demon hunter all about pain and getting priest tourist. Causing parasitic mechanics for both classes. What the hell is the point of half of the mini set cards even? I understand you need weak/filler cards, but half of them fundamentally make no sense. Even eternal delay, the dk 4 mana somewhat board clear. It just doesn't make sense

Soul Searching has an issue of the fact that there are zero playable Death Knight decks that are double unholy at the moment. The current DKs in Standard are FFU, BFU, and BBB. FFU isn't converting to FUU because it isn't willing to give up Horn or Marrow Manipulator and also isn't really a value-based deck. BFU (Rainbow) can't run it and I can't see it willing to switch to BUU or FUU for the sake of it given you have to give up Eliza or Reska for it. And BBB naturally can't switch to BUU because it's built atop a foundation of Vampiric Blood and Corpse Explosion. As for wild, I don't think Soul Searching alone is going to make enough of a difference and the class is probably gonna remain stuck in Even Rainbow hell.

@@shrekkek9396 Deathrattle DK hasn’t been a thing for a hot minute and Plague DK fell off entirely when its one niche (farming wins off of highlander decks) was ruined. I don’t see Soul Searching being the tipping point for either of these archetypes coming back.

Skyla is actually kinda good in big spell mage, you can generate cheap spells like coins and snake oil and then use it to discount tsunami or sunset volley, then replay these with conniving conman. Sea shill can also allow you to quicken the deck quite a lot. Idk the winrate of the deck yet, but it's probably one of the best cards of the miniset

Druid Brochure *might* see play in the standard Ramp Druid deck. drawing 2 spells is good like you said, and the draw minions option with Puppetmaster Dorian in play is pretty strong. Might not replace Take to the Skies’ consistent targets but there is a deck where it might have a home

Players have been asking for a long time to reduce the power creep of the cards. Here you go. The cards themselves are not bad, but compared to what is currently in the standard, they look very weak. A couple more of these additions and the game will become much slower than it is now.

We want to reduce power creep, but you don't do it with a miniset at the end of rotation, you do it with the new set at the start of rotation.

@@Collisto2435 It's still not clear, it's quite possible that they just released bad cards and won't slow anything down. The first set of the year is usually the main one and if it's immediately much worse than the previous 3, it will be too noticeable. If they start reducing the power of cards from now, it will be smoother. Although they still need to nerf a lot of decks, otherwise everyone will continue to play the same until rotation.

The issue is the cards are extremely boring and nonsensical. Monkey business favors a board centric deck but also wants you to keep a full hand. Some of these cards wouldn't see play in older metas because they're just completely cooked design wise

priest got a dh cards and bad divination; if i wanted to do a digging game or divination i would play YGO with Adamancipators and Syvans respectively. Funnily enough i could see a banana 4 hunter card played in some form of a discounts for priest deck. What are you discouning with 8 bananas in wild ? Idk tony ?

I have been having reasonable success with ungoro brochure in a wild Odyn list. Run the tourist, Odyn, and 1 or 2 other minions. Run two of the brochures, two of the astounding heights, and two of that 2 mana now 2 mana later, and I have been pretty consistently hitting Odyn on turn 6 or 7.

Eternal Layover and Travel Security are kinda funny in Warlock with Desecrated Graveyard and Sacrificial Imp. By no means "good", but stupidly sticky boards with how much reborn gets thrown around, won a few games with it.

Maybe Robocaller as a tutor in Reno Paladin with Lynessa? The only decent 8 mana cards are Cariel and Prismatic Beam (Maybe Varian?) so not ideal but that makes it a tutor for cards to stabilize against aggro

Only play standard, and even in standard i find the whole soothfancy into twighlight medium combo way too slow and inconsistent, and adding another potential step in envoy of prosperity sounds even less worth it

I feel like *maybe* Trust Fall could do something goofy in Wild with mega cards like The Darkness and Immortal Prelate or so you just have replicating 21/23s, or Dopplegangster for 3 22/22s... but not only is that weak to silence/hex/hard removal in general, it's also demanding no other minions below 5 mana, and you can't even run more than one of each because you could hit *both* of the minions meant to gain stat buffs. By that point you're dead to most decks anyway, so... Why bother with this card?

something i actually don't like about this channel (actually about a lot of HS channels) is how when a card is printed strong you're like "WHY would they print this?", obviously, but when cards are printed that could potentially be weak you're also "WHY would they print this?", and like at least it's just not gonna be played until *(if)* they buff it at which point it will hopefully be balanced, where as OP cards are unfun to play against until nerfed. like Demonic Deal is already above rate compared to Siphon Soul, of course it's gonna have a downside, do we want DH to have Siphon Soul with an upside? that could tutor potentially extremely powerful cards? WHY would they print something like that? also i think when devs design cards they're not always thinking about how this could fit into existing meta decks, sometimes they just wanna print a cool card and see if it sticks.

The thing is that this is a problem Blizzard created for themselves. If you want to lower the power level of the game you HAVE to start at rotation and you HAVE to aggressively balance anything very strong down instantly. Instead we're getting INSANE BROKEN expansions at the start of a rotation and then blizzard are expecting people to be excited to burn resources on unplayable garbage that can never compete. If they started a rotation with a dev diary: "Our mission statement is now to slow down the game and restore class identity, we're sorry that we have let the power creep take over" and then they refused to print any broken cards or instantly nuked broken cards the same week they became a problem, we would all be happy. Instead they have decided on the worst of both worlds with no upside.

@@mckinleyostvig7135 i think the problem just comes down to Blizzard not making enough balance patches, especially not enough buffs to weak cards. the release state of a card only matters for 2 weeks if it's buffed after that. the only time it's insulting is like with this hunter situation, where they seem to be giving it cancelled cards from Raskatan's for the past 2 years

This expansion is a mess. Why print all these priest cards that don't help priest instead of just giving them to demon hunter, why is stapler a demon hunter card and not a priest card, did they give up pretending that these self damage cards would do something for priest? DK's shaman tourist makes no sense to me. Why print Turbulus? They already tried this with The Mistcaller, and no one plays that. The tourists in total feel like they could've been so much more, instead giving worthless cards to one class so they can work in their non-native class (what the hell is announce darkness? How is warlock gonna use that at all?). If a card makes sense, it's either really good, or busted (wait, you can do 15 damage in one turn with horizon's edge if you play smart? They actually made one of the drinks good, with health drink?). Cubicle seems good on paper, but in reality, it summons one guy and then dies, we already have ravenous kraken which does the same thing for cheaper and doesn't see play.

this is one of the most dogshit sets, not even just minisets, they've ever released. 90% of these cards need buffs, my theory is that they're super scared of tourists breaking the game so they made the miniset unplayable garbage and hopefully buff it later.
