The musical approach John Williams took on the Munich soundtrack was the same as any other approach he has taken to composing a 'serious' film: emotionally powerful and harrowing string writing combined with tumultuous action. "A Prayer for Peace" provides the first complete statement of Avner's melancholy theme performed by the string section. As always, since I discovered this orchestra, a magnificent performance of the piece both orchestra and with the solo instruments and, highlighting, a sensational staging typical of a loving production that is noteworthy. Fastastic is the least that needs to be said. Bravo!
