Footage of brown trout migrating and spawning in the Lough Corrib catchment, filmed in November 2023. The brown trout of the Corrib, one of Ireland's most renowned trout fisheries, migrate upstream to their native spawning grounds in streams and tributaries during autumn. Here, they pair up, and the female trout (hen) uses her tail to sweep a depression in the gravel bed, where she will lay her eggs. The male trout (cock) fertilises the eggs and the female then sweeps more gravel over them to cover them from predators.
