Nagas are honourable people. They fought with dignity and with courage befitting a nation of warriors. During any of the wars india fought with Pakistan and China, they made it a point to not take advantage of the preoccupations of the armed forces. Wish they get a good deal to live peaceably, and maintain their culture and their way of life.

I don't like some of his views but I would never call him stupid. If someone's views doesn't align with your thoughts, it doesn't mean he/she is stupid. You should try to argue based on that point of contention and not resort to name calling. Creating a healthy atmosphere of debate should be our focus.

@@ThePrintIndia , I'll agree to disagree. "Both sides did awful things" . Can you point incidence where the Nagas did "awful things" as you said? Why are you biased on this? Why are you trying to wilfully defend the Armed Forces and demean the innocent Nagas? As long as people refuse to call a spade a spade, trust can never be brokered. Remember, in this situation it is the Government of India who has to take the step. By saying "Both sides did awful things" , you're justifying raping innocent women, physically torturing old aged elders, destroying civilian properties etc.

The Nagas that I have known are mostly simple, helpful, positive, honest and transparent people, but as it is with transparent glass, it needs to be handled with care. Simple people are easy to be convinced but equally hard to be swayed once convinced by something else. INTERNATIONAL NGOs, Political Leaders AND NSCN (IM) Nexus IN NAGALAND Prior to our independence, Nagas fought against British invasion and Christian conversion. Angami braves of Khonoma, Mezoma and Kekrüma fought against British rule and Christian missionaries for several years in first half of the nineteencentury. The Chakhesang Nagas of Thevopisumi village fought against Christian conversion and church sponsored Naga National Council (NNC) led by A.Z. Phizo -who demanded complete secession from Bharatvarsh. Haipou Jadonang - a Rongmei Naga from Manipur who led a strong resistance to British expansion andmissionary menace, was hung on 29thAugust 1931. Rani Gaidinliu - then a girl of 16 years led the movement called Zeliangro ng Heraka Movement to protect the sovereignty of the country and defend indigeno us Hindu faith. Even A. Z. Phizo who hailed from Khonoma village assisted Indian National Army (INA) led by Netaji Subhsh Chandra Bose in the Kohima war during Second World War to defeat British invaders. Even after this resistance, British could establish their rule over Naga Hills area and pushed American and British Christian missionaries into Nagaland under Army protection and Government support. The forced conversion to Christianity and expansion of British rule advanced together. After the grand success in ividing the country by creating East and West Pakistan, the Britishers picked up Phizo and NNC cohorts to create a Christaincountry in Northeast Bharat. Firstly, British officers employed Christian missionaries to convert Nagas and then,they (British rulers) asked converted Nagas (Phizo and NNC militants) to startinquisition against those Nagas who refused to convert to Christianity and support British policy after 1947 so that a Christian solidarity could be established with USA and UK by the initiative of American and British Baptist Christian Church for the formation of Christian Sovereign Nagaland . Phizo who supported Army of Subhash Chandra Bose and fought against British army, joined the British bandwagon after conversion to Christianity and waged a war on Bhratvarsh to secede from the country and started Christian inquisitions in support of Christian crusade to convertall Nagas to please his British masters. Anybody who expressed different opinion was brutally killed. NNC and church were all the same. Overnight, churches opened in even remote areas, which came shelter place for guerillas of NNC. Missionaries acted as informers against army movements and against those Nagas who did not support NNC uprising and Christian inquisition jointly operated by NNC and church. This was the reason that Rani Gaidinliu and her Zeliangrong Heraka(Hindus) movement was the prime target of NNC and Church. They (NNC & Church)were after the head of Rani Gaidinliu - the freedom fighter. British missionary -Rev. Michael Scott became friend, philosopher and guide of Phizo and NNC rebellion. This British reverend supplied lethal weapons packed in Red Cross boxes to NNC militants. The Church formed several NGOs which acted as host to NNC guerillas and Christian crusade. Government of Bharatvarsh under Pt. Nehru couldn’t pay requisite attention to what was being done against the country by NNC and Church combine. The Crown Colony Plan The Britishers had a Crown Colony plan- a buffer state under British rule, in independent Bharatvarsh by seceding from Siliguri corridor. When it could not happen at the time of secession of both the Pakistans in 1947, they employed NNC guerillas and Church organization to materialize the dream of creating a buffer state in Naga Hills which could be an army base for America and Britain because of NE’sstrategic location in the midst of Hindu Bharatvarsh, Communist China and MuslimEast Pakistan now Bangladesh. With their long experience in divide and rule policy,the marauder masters sitting in London crushed and killed all Naga leaders who opposed annexation of Naga areas with British Crown and conversion of Nagas through force, fraud and proselytisation. That they did through NNC, Church and several Naga NGOs created under the supervision of the British masters planted in Church organizations. Naga club and Naga Hoho were such two NGOs, who were master campaigners and expert educators of NNC and Church agenda amongst Naga public. When GOI wanted to arrest Phizo for his anti-national activities, he silently escaped to London where he spent a royal life till his death in 1990 hosted byBritish Church organization under the supervision of Rev. Michael Scott and Billy Graham. Division of NNC In 1975 during emergency, NNC signed Shillong Accord 1975 accepting the Constitution of the country. Few hard-core militants defected from the NNC underthe leadership of Th. Muivah (Tangkhul Naga), Isak Chishi Swu (Sema Naga) andS.S. Khaplang (Hemi Naga)because of ideological difference. They went to China for military training and formed National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) in 1980 under deep influence of Chinese Communism. This NSCN was again bifurcated into two - NSCN (IM) under the leadership of Isak Chishi Swu and Th. Muivah and NSCN (K) led by S. S. Khaplang. Two years later, NNC was also divided into two - NNC (Adino) and NNC (Yanthan)after the death of Phizo in 1990. Mrs. Adino is the daughter of Phizo and Khadao Yanthan (Lotha Naga) is the former private secretary of Phizo. All the four factions started killing each other in the war of supremacy even after the conciliatory role played by so many NGOs like Naga Hoho Nagaland Baptist Council of Churches (NBCC), Naga Student Federation (NSF), Naga Mother Association (NMA), Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights(NPMHR), and Naga Club (which is dormantnow) etc. Several masked NGOs are registered under country’s law and also under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act 1976 with a declared aim of serving the society in the field of economic upliftment, hygiene, medical care education and HIV/AIDS. These NGOs are receiving uncountable money from their foreign masters through Hawala and also through all the possible legal and illegal means. In return, they are funding rebel organizations for purchasing lethal weapons. They are also involved in drug and liquor trafficking in Nagaland. These NGOs are involved in other dangerous activity. In the name of eradication of and prevention from HIV/AIDS, there are mushrooming of such NGOs to amass enormous money from foreign NGOs. These NGOs are openly advocating for sex education and free sex but with condoms. They display how a girl and boy can prevent unwanted pregnancy and still keeps HIV/AIDS away even after repeated sex only by the use of condoms designed separately for boys and girls both. The trainer NGOs display condom use in their training classes.Thus, they have targeted to spoil the youths - the most vital section of the society. These NGOs are run by Nagas but these greedy masters of NGOs from Naga community busy to become rich overnight don’t bother about the future consequences of their dubious activities sponsored by their foreign masters. There are two types of such NGOs operating in Nagaland today. First, in this category fall such NGOs which receive money from GOI, foreign NGOs and foreign funding agencies. They declare their aim as working in the field of economic development, education, adult literacy , childcare, hygiene, medical care and environment etc. A large chunk of their money is siphoned off in the terrorist camps. The other type of NGOs are those which work under the garb of student organizations, youth organizations, tribal hohos (apex bodies), civil organizations and human rights organizations. These organizations openly receive money from state governments. In other words, these organizations are nourished by the State Government and foreign funding agencies enemy to Bharatvarsh. Good explanation about our history. For anyone confused, let me clarify we, Nagas, did not invade India. It was the British followed by India who invaded us. Unfortunately in this conflict alot of Indian Army died but you should also mention the numerous rapes, torture and deaths of children, women and men who were innocent. This does makes us bitter and not trust the government even now though we still want peace.

I started to read the Naga issue since I passed by 10th class in 1995 and Ulfa was also at peak during that period. I still remember operation Rhino against Ulfa by BSF and one company was deployed a few kilometers from my home. Those were scary days... our small town by 6 pm no one would venture out. Only the evening bhajan songs played by those BSF could be heard. One day we went to the SDO and complained about the mic because it was too loud and that was study time for us. We use to study in kerosene lamp and finish evening study by 7:30 pm😁😁

Nagas wish to live separately as a nation started earlier even before 1947, Nagas even wrote to Simon commission which this video didn't mention. We could or couldn't have progressed without India but annexation by Indian was against naga's wish. Even in 90s I saw naked people not properly cloth, what would have been the condition of nagas in 1947, we thank christian missionary for education and religion. Just few educated people tried to protect nagas those days, many people were killed, raped and property lost while trying to protect our land from Intruders. We are living today as an Indian Naga where we are still concern about our identity because we are less heard, known or recognised among the huge Indian.

AZ Phizo started its freedom movement from Eastern Naga while most of the western Naga hold back to fight back. In doing so, Eastern Naga had to sacrifice everything from Education to economics but after Naga Independence the Eastern Naga now known as Backward tribes was under 10 years of Prez rule with no development which some of the villages still have to suffer because the first ambush was conducted by these villages against Indian Army example like Yimchunger tribe Villages. It's sad that historian forget to mention those sacrifice. PS: Because of long blocked of developments in infrastructure and education the people of Eastern Naga were far behind from western Naga so the government manages to provide Backwards quota for Jobs which is now use by many Naga people as accused if leaders were honest and inclusive while forming the state, Eastern Naga would be equal to other Naga too.

As wonderful as your personal insight into the issue and events of this , sir you got some very vital points very wrong which can be an honest mistake or just another way to misinform people. The point you mentioned about Ukhrul not being contiguous with Naga areas is quite wrong as is visible in the present map of the state of Nagaland and Manipur , Ukhrul is adjoined and shares border with Nagaland and the accessibility you talked about either through Imphal or Myanmar is also wrong because there is a “National highway” that joins Ukhrul to Nagaland though Jessami. And also Tangkhul and Mao are not the only major Naga tribe but also Poumai and Zeliangrong are large groups with significant populations and are also prominent .
@miscreantminion9429
@miscreantminion9429 4 жыл бұрын
Muivah's opinions weren't taken seriously when Nagaland state was formed. He needed a strong "naga" force. So he converted all these tribes into "naga" either by force or propagandas. Recruited mostly Tangkhuls in NSCN-IM. It's basically a cry for attention. And to disturb the peace.
@miscreantminion9429
@miscreantminion9429 4 жыл бұрын
@Moon Raker see, it gets very tricky here, when say that someone is a "naga", because their identity is very new and there are no clear identifying criteria for a "naga identity", except for the fact that the term "naga" was referred to those different tribes in the naga hills in Assam province before Nagaland got statehood. Manipur Kingdom was ruled by Ningthouja Dynasty, one of the longest lasting dynasties in the world. And it's geographical territory had been established centuries before a "naga identity" was even born. Also the so called "nagas in Manipur" have always been a part of the Manipur Kingdom's ceremonies long before this vague identity was born. They have their own names(not naga) called Tangkhul, Maram, Mao etc. So when you say that these tribes(Tangkhul, mao, maram etc.) are nagas, it gives an impression that these tribes have been a part of the nagas in Nagaland (Ao, Sema, Angami etc.) all this time(which was Muivah's intention). Even more than a part of Manipur, giving an idea of separatism among the people. It creates a disturbance in the peace coexistence of these communities in Manipur, as well as in Nagaland.
@miscreantminion9429
@miscreantminion9429 4 жыл бұрын
@Moon Raker yes, the tribes from Manipur also had their own village chiefs, but it is also true that they had roles in Manipur Kingdom's ceremonies. Yes, every community enjoyed certain level of autonomy, but all were loyal to the Manipuri Nationalism, and took part in the Kingdom's ceremonies. An example is the "Mera Houchongba" festival, which has been celebrated since centuries ago, where every village chiefs from the hills of Manipur come to the valley to celebrate togetherness, exchange gifts and perform culture shows etc. Then there was no "naga" in Manipur. These tribes had nothing to do with the tribes of Nagaland or the naga nationalism. Unlike the history of Nagaland, the history of Manipur Kingdom has documented history from as early as 33-154 CE. To say the least, even Kuki tribe was once considered as a Naga tribe during the "naga nationalism", you can clearly see the level of identity crisis with this "naga identity". It is understandable when you say the tribes in Nagaland are nagas, but a community that has been a part of Manipur since time immemorial shouldn't be identified as something else, it not only affects the peaceful coexistence, but also taking advantage of the simple mindset of tribal people, making a fool out of them. It becomes an obstacle to the over-all development of the area and the only ones that suffer are the common people of that area, while NSCN-IM leader are filthy rich , with business around different places. Also, please shed some light on the history that you read during your highschool and of those articles. I would like to know how the Tangkhuls/maram/mao of Manipur are more a part of the tribals in Nagaland, than that of Manipur.

As a northeasterner I feel qualified to answer your question. The answer is fear and diplomacy. Assam was part of the Raj so it naturally conceded to India. As for smaller kingdoms they neither had the army nor the finances necessary to operate a state. These kingdoms created fortune mainly via trade with the British and they were pretty dependent too. Most of the then rulers were educated in Calcutta and had contacts with people in the INC. These people were crucial to the negotiating table. The royalty knew, they were gonna be merged with East Pak or India sooner or later. So they wanted an honorable exit. The Indian state obviously got what it wanted and voila you get a region that gets neglected for 70 yrs

Conclusion drawn from the video: the causes of the current Naga political issues are twofold. 1. Insincerity and inferiority attitude towards the issues by GOI and their divide and rule policy. 2. Selfishness and shortsightedness amongst the Nagas in general and their leaders in particular: readiness to suffice if and when their respective tribes are benefited rather than the greater good of the Nagas. And finally, India needs to respect the reality of identity cricis faced by the Nagas. We maybe of different tribes but it is our eternal desire to be identified as a single people and not of people of different States. In our Naga society there is a common saying that the Indian army is large enough to drown us all with their pee alone, let alone their modernized weaponry. While that is very true, it is not to undermine our spirits. We Nagas have been known for our bravery, though some retrospectively foolish and irrational. Nothing good will come from conflicts, especially in this millennia when NE will serve as the doorway to South Asia for India - with China lurking. It is a moral obligation to respect every people's right, no matter their significance. That is what the Indian independence movement was based upon. Self identification is a basic human right. GOI cannot blamed the Nagas for the mistakes they made in scattering them to different States. A unified and autonomous Naga State within the Indian Constitution is a bare minimum, and the fight will live on if that is not given.

Good analysis bro. But from experience, I don't think the tribal politics is ever gonna stop from ruining a good bunch of opportunities. Each tribe wants to prove themselves superior to the other and a never ending race of power grab. This is not particular of Nagaland and applies to whole of NE. Also the GOI is equally responsible for underdevelopment of the region. We could have been a major traffic route to reach the whole of SEA and even China and look at what the situation is now. Even tourism is not well advertised into the mainland. The worst part is connectivity and the rant goes on.....

These are the sign of a mature and experienced journalist when he honoured the rebel naga leaders for their valor and didnt redicule them the way Indians and Pakistanis ridicule each other's military. That's because there is a difference between a foreign force and our own men rebelling against the nation, no matter how non Indian the separatist Naga would think about themselves for rest of us India and for our government they are as Indians as people from any other state. I hope Nagas will get all their rights with their culture,tradition,language and beliefs preserved well under Indian constitution.

Dear Narrator! For God's sake don't try to dilute and distort the Naga History. Iam a student doing my PG degree currently. Many Naga youths might not be aware of Naga history but there are handful of Naga youths like me who are well aware of our(Naga) history. Point wise! 1) NagaHiss was never a part of India. Naga hill was infact handed down by the Britishers to India who couldn't conquer us themself. 2) Nagas were more United during the colonial period under British whereas contemporary Naga society is divided into pieces since the india came in. British came with Christainity sharing love and peace whereas India came with assault rifles. 3) Severe human rights violation is seen in the Naga Hills starting from early 1950s committed by Indian soldiers. Thousand of Nagas were murdered by Indian army Where AFSPA was an act of GENOCIDE for the Nagas. My mother's and sisters were raped, my father, brother and uncle's were tortured and killed, people were taken away and never seen again, villages were burned down, houses ransacked, women raped, a mass terrible genocide where the journalist and media were shut out of the situation in Naga hills. The cruelsome genocide was conducted in closed door so that the world doesn't know about Indian brutalism. Nagas were subjugated by Neo colonial power! 4) Nagas had been fighting for almost 9 decades now, don't ever expect to finish off Naga insurgents by dividing the Nagas and throwing money. There are Nagas like me who don't care about money but care more about our rights than your deceptive tactics to divide the Nagas. 5)today there are Nagas like me who don't buy your deceptive tactics to suppress the Nagas by dividing us. We are more concerned of our rights and our history. 6) Nagaland is a failed State, your puppet government running the Nagas state of affairs has nothing to do with Nagas. In every movement there are always traitors, if we look into any history, and just like that, even among the Nagas there are traitors. They are only interested in INR nothing much, and they can be assasinated just like many traitors assassinated in Naga Struggle. 7) Don't ever expect that Nagas will give in to India in exchange for Package or anything. There is no price that can compensate for thousands of Innocent Nagas killed by Indians. 8) Nagas will keep fighting India until the earth sun turns grey in our universe. The only solution is COMPLETE SEPARATION FROM INDIA! 9) The present Naga leaders of the underground may or may not surrender, whether they surrender or not, the fact remains i.e history, which cannot be erased. The brutality and genocide by Indians will remain and the history will carry it own course, while the young Naga generations will keep fighting for Complete Separation. 10) I would love to call myself an Indian but not at the cost of thousands of innocent souls lost for the cause! Nagas stand for Sovereignty! 11) "it is better to die fighting as Nagas than to live with humiliation as Indian". Please I earnestly request you not to distort our history! Mind your own business, if you don't know Naga history don't try to act as if you are an expert, why not try explaining your own indian history! Don't waste your time giving wrong information to the people! Or are you obsessed with KZbin monetization???? May be! How pity old grandpa! Words of a women mizo fighter " we can be a sovereign country but not independant " after knowing about international power politics . She realised this decades back . And it is time for u to realise this now.
@nagalimtrends
@nagalimtrends 5 жыл бұрын
@@thulasikumaran9869 Mizo is different case. Mizos were weak and we're only influenced by Nagas. Infact Nagas supported their movement by giving certain aids like supplying weapons and training them. Their stand was in itself weak and their moment dissolved with money from India. Their movement was nothing but that of indimitation from Nagas. Talking about the world politics, Nagas would rather love unitary system like that of Chinese, where federal system and infact the largest democracy in the world in itself is corrupted to it's root and there seems to be no accountability and transparency in Indian system which only sound good in theory. Nagas would rather align with the Chinese and Pakistan rather than the said Indian system, the system is in itself is very difficult to pass laws and adjugate policies due to two irrational house where the minor communities and their voices are suppressed in Delhi. In terms of power in global arena things will take it's own course when the Nagas are politically stable but as of now it is very unstable and corrupted to it's root within Indian system. The only way out from this failure and sluggish system is complete separation from India! Sovereignty has different meaning in different platform for international politics and single state. Not to be confused with the word, by sovereignty Nagas mean just one thing i.e self determination without the interference from internal or external foreign force. Nagas are only talking about self rule not involving external alien laws like that of India. Nagas don't subscribe to Indian System!

Nagas will never accept any solution which doesn't guarantee our own Flag and Constitution. Sorry to interrupt but being a true son of the land I can't digest your saying Separate flag and Constitution will never happen. We hv been fighting all these years for our identity,thousands had laid down their lives in this long struggle n yet more are ready to die for the land. Remember that Nagas will never surrender to any forces on earth. Surrendering and becoming overground happened in the past but not with the sons of today. Good bless Nagaland.KUKNALIM!!!!Anyways it was indeed well explained from beginning to the end. Thank you sir for sharing our history. 🙏

Beautiful story from the Indian point of view. Appreciate it... 👍🏼 Truth be told and be known to all mankind who needs to. Nagaland is only one fifth of the Nagas Territory so it’s very sentimental to say Nagaland as the land of entire Nagas. There was never Nagaland but the whole of Nagas territory crying for freedom in bloodshed until Nagaland was curved out dividing the Nagas. P.S : better research will be appreciated since some information are wrong

I am a Naga and Indian by citizen. Some few points to know about Indo-Naga conflict. In 1929 the Nagas submitted a memorandum to the British government not to merge Naga areas with Indian union when the Simon commission visited India. Nagas already declared their independence on 14 August 1947 after Mahatma Gandhi the father of the nation assured that Nagas have every right to stay with India or to part away from the Indian union. Nagas did not went to Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan or Haryana to kill Indians. Nagaland did not Invade India, India Invaded Nagaland. Naga Insurgents did not kill any Children or women who came from mainland India and settled down in Nagaland. Indian Army killed 1000s of Naga children, raped 1000s of Naga women between 1957-1967, Burnt 1000s of Naga villages. Naga insurgents targeted Indian Army and Indian Army targeted Naga children, women and unarmed civilians.. My question is who are warriors and who are cowards??? Who's fault?? GOI OR NAGAS?? 🤔🤔🤔

The whole of North East was forcibly annexed by the government in India. India and North East don't share any thing in common as regards to culture. The central Government threatened North East and offered bribes to the hand picked rulers also. Most of the election were farce,and elected leaders were just sub subservant of the central government. But slowly and slowly things improved.The people of North East slowly believes that are also a part of India. It is going to take time. However,North East economically more developed before Indepence than now.
