Spectacular theology of the bride! The priest is the "alter Christi" and the religious is the "altera Maria." The woman at Christ's sepulchre in Mt 27:61, can be identified (with a bit of scriptural sleuthing), as "the sister" who stood with the Mother of Jesus at the foot of the Cross (John 19:25). This ministry to religious vocations is desperately needed. Thank you Father Burns for your passion and zeal to protect and defend the brides.

What if we begin Diocese sisters? Have a sister or 2 attached to a parish? I also believe we need to change the focus of who becomes a religious sister. I have many ideas on this because I have been thinking about this since 2015 when I first considered becoming a sister. I am an older woman who converted to Catholicism in 2015.

I like this idea. I don't know if you're familiar with Our Lady of Champion, the only approved Marian apparition in the US, but the visionary was known as "Sr." Adele Brise. She wasn't a part of a formal religious community as there were none in that area of Wisconsin at the time, but she wore a habit, lived with other women with likeminded living, and went around the diocese teaching the catechism. She'd be a great example of how that could work.

I saw Fr. speak about this topic on Pints with Aquinas. He did an amazing job putting it forth and really got me thinking. He totally gets it! Thank you Fr. 🤍
