If anyone was wondering where I was when this premiered (at 6am in my timezone)... I was asleep. I didn't set my usual alarm. Oops. Sorry! 😅

If you haven't decided on a name yet, then the name "Revolution" could be good since it is a revolutionary overhaul of canoe technology. I have never seen a canoe such as this. It is a canoe, right? As a BorderWise viewer I don't know any other type of ship than canoe, tall canoe, long canoe, and sky canoe.

A 'Proper Ship Hull" is basically just an oval with one end pointed more than the other and the sides a longer. I like the 1:5 Width to Length ratio for this game (:

I do indeed like how this turned out! Excited to see your progress in this new style of ship building! As far as making replica style ships, I tend to also look for a general reference and then look at it once and let my creative side fill in most of the gaps from there and try not to adhere too strictly to the reference design. Especially keeping in mind The thing you said last time about being limited to 1m blocks. I find I end up with pleasing hulls that also have some of my own style.

40m/s is faster then 114KM/h...its 144km per hour aka roughly 25% faster then when you compared it to other ships...or roughly twice as fast as the fastest warship you compared it to. from the depth ships are insanely fast compared to real life vessels, on top of that it seems remarkably economical to make whole warfleets move around economically at over record speeds carrying the entire weight of the ship on hydrofoils. something that would be hell on feul logistics if ever attempted in real life.

Thank you for clarifying! I was directly told the number, and then I forgot it. 😅

It's not entirely unrealistic to have torpedo launchers in some kind of superstructure, maybe not the main one but ships like the Japanese Myoko and Atago class did that with torpedo launchers towards the midships or rear. Anyways, here's hoping the realistic thing lasts a while, i'm sure you'll be getting amazing results in no time! Also, quick question for those of us more decoration inclined: is it possible to hide a block's mesh without using a decoration? I have a turret replica that's already eaten a few hundred decorations... maybe into the thousands arleady.... off the limit because I need at least one decoration to hide each beam to get the shape right with decorations.

Cheers! I don't think you can use deco to just make blocks invisible... maybe try hologram projectors to cover up what you don't what seen?

"We are gonna put so many anti-aircraft guns on this thing that we're not gonna have enough room to walk on it" Or as Drachinifal would put it: Make it a very American ship.

Haha, I'm happy to see this character development! Just make sure to build a canoe every so often for old times' sake. I usually make the above waterline portion of my ships out of alloy, and I find that I never need to use lead or heavy armor for ballast (aside from what I use as actual armor, of course). Realistic ships at 1:1 scale is not too difficult in FtD, really, once you get the hang of it. I like making small planes and helicopters, and let me tell you, the pressure to spin clip all your internals is obscene, and it still won't look good without decos.

I don't know if this is helpful or not, but I recently learnt that there are a variety of different shapes in the decorations menu. Including tubes in the different material styles. same with shapes like spheres, hexagonal prisms and even a Torus. They are amazing for decorating. Also I know I don't comment much, but I do absolutely love your videos.

Thank you! I am aware of those deco shapes, but I do keep forgetting they're there. Thanks for the reminder, I probably needed it. :)

You can double or triple motor your screws with belts to squeeze a little more power out of them. They're more efficient and easier than spamming ducts and small props like that. Nvm you got it

Oh! And one thing to note! You can make the axis deflection work for steam props, you just need to do it with trial and error, bc it doesn't visually render. Takes some trial and error, of maxing out the offset in one direction per propeller, observing, and trying it again with the other one, so you know which way goes where.
@BorderWise12

How do you scale block size? I see a lot of people are able to make the propeller shafts skinny. How do you do that?
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 2 ай бұрын
It's just the smaller propellor in this case? You can do wild things with decorations, though.

why do you paint your armor red?
@BorderWise12
@BorderWise12 8 ай бұрын
It's to mimic the rust-proof paint that a lot of ships (particularly WW2 era ships) had. 👍
@kirknay
@kirknay 8 ай бұрын
It's not just anti rust. The red color comes from it containing anti-bio agents to kill off barnicles or other pesky beasties that slow you down by turning your hull into a trypophilic nightmare @@BorderWise12
